I use a pine bedding that I buy from the local farm store. I am told hardwood is better never tried it, cant find it cheap enough around here.I should try the corncob grit theres a plant not to far from here that makes the stuff. It will take a sour looking wet pelt to a fluffy and clean pelt in a few mins. Cuts down on the grease too.

My address isn't on there but that would be mighty interesting to say the least if they showed up LOL . I honestly believe a good smile would send them running from most trappers.

Looking at buying a used spitfire. To download new sounds does it cost $$. If so can one save them on a computer to change up the sound card from say crows in the spring to yotes in the winter ? Thanks all I have ever used is hand calls and big boomboxes with cassette tapes.

You run the bottom set up that comes stock on the Duke Robert ? I dont care at all for the center locator, the center locator binds up too much for my liking. I like a good baseplate and D ring.

I feel a larger catch circle has benefits for coyotes.
Care to go into detail ??

I dont pretend to be a coyote guy but I catch a few. I have allways have ran short chains. Talked with a few guys at conventions that were running 5-8-10 ft chains to save a real bad muddy circle. They were taking up the trap an moving a few feet over to remake. Their take it was a time saver. ?? I run most of my #3 and #4s on a long chain for beaver it would be nice to go from one critter to the next without shop work. Whats your thoughts.

OT but this trap is my #2 coon trap right after the # 2 bridger. Tough to run the bridgers on the road though. I love its large pan and kill area.

Did up some Duke 1.5 coils last year for coon on drowners. BAD IDEA. Twice the surface area means half the pressure per area. Even on drowners they don't hold coon...These were new traps. IF you can't be talked out of it, you will have to up the spring rate for coon...but then is it really worth it?. Sometimes stock is better. No idea on the beaver. I did try some Duke #4 offsets for beaver (front foot) on drowners last spring. They worked really well for me. I agree, I have on 1.5 b&l tried #2 music wire in the past with out lams too power much will break bones. I love the #4 duke for beaver never tried the offset.

In my opinion lamination for beaver would lose you more beaver then they would hold. Back foot catch with a BIG trap and the beaver won't pull out. If your planning on letting that beaver stay alive you better make sure that there Is no entanglement. And use lots of swivels. Front foot catch, I'd use a smaller trap like a #3 sized trap. But same as above no entanglement and plenty of swivels.
But For the life of me I don't understand why you wouldn't want to drown them . Or use a 330. I asked about lams not if or how to long chain beaver. We've been over this before. I have been doing it for years. It works for me. I run mostly #3 Bridger on 10-12 ft of kinkless chain. Dont have the water depth for drowning (alot of it is 1 ft or less), Cant dig out a spot for 330s in most spots to make them legal (complete submersion required) due to muck or sand, I snare about 1-4 - 1/3 of my sets but dont prefer them, a #3 coil is my preferred method. A drowning rig takes TIME the water goes up and down I just move my trap not my whole rig. Brush and stumps ( entanglement ) have never slowed me down, although its rare on my line sandbars and grass is the norm. It works for me, it worked for the early American trappers too, they darn near wiped out the beaver in spots and mostly did it with 6-10 traps each and 10-15 ft chains.

I admit it , I in the past have coon trapped mink. I do quite well but dont like dickin with the tension all the time. I have ran nite latches as I was checking in the dark and dont like dinkin with a trap I like to hear that CLICK know its set right an go go go. I have played with dropping the tension in different ways. Your thoughts ??

I have cussed it for yrs. Now that I think on it. I run my road line starting at 1-2 AM or use drowners. In other words not alot of time for a coon to work its foot. Your thoughts ?
What about lams for beaver ? --- mainly thinking long chaining with a live hold- no drowning THANKS

I use the shoe goo sports formula. It will set up enough in one or two mins to use that day but when your done running for the day you need to dry it off and redo it by the next AM your good to go. As important as .22s on my line

I have a feeling DPs will be replacing buckets on my line quite a bit however. I was wondering how you all are running your triggers. I have in the past on 220s bent them straight at my bait to avoid reach ins on smaller 160s I always put the trigger way off to the side. Any thoughts on body gripper pans ?
