I set all pockets. Most pockets I see set people don't make them right to be effective. But that is a good thing. And all sliders on the traps use to use drags bur spent to long looking for coon.

Ron was a painter mainly barns and shed and some houses. And the Nishna Garden. He was well known for his garden. His wife Margret was really a hard worker and ran the garden stand. And man what a cook she was.The shovel was from Bud Hall and Les Steere. If you don't temper them right they brake easy.I guess some people should have paid more attension ;D

I seen a super 8 he made along time ago on fox trapping with a old trapper named Banjo Wilson. Before videos were even thought of.Seen some pics. of Ron and Craig O Gorman trapping coyotes and fox.He was a perfectionist in everything he made or did. From trapping to his homemade Rooster feeders he would make and haul down to Oklahoma every spring.Ihave a ton of stories but type like a chicken pecking corn.I think of him alot still.

I still smile at the pumpkin pic. a woodchuck got in the garden and chewed the back side of Ron's prize pumpkin.Ron was great guy if he liked you he would do anything for you.

Most of them coon all came from a 10 mile area.Alot of good silage pits and dairy farms. These places always have 20 to 30 coon every year in each spot.

They pay 15 for the good coon. But the average coon the price is crap.I hate trapping coon love the mink but for 7 bucks for the mink also I will let them run.I tried to get a beaver price out of the buyer and never got a reply. At least I got 5 weeks of vacation to play trapper.

I sold a bunch of coon today.I thought prices are up they are a lot less than last year.Sure the good ones are up but the average is down 7 bucks. That isn't worth my time in the mud and deep water.

I seen the other day you can buy imatation weasel gland.Ron Hansen made a mink gland lure it worked but fish 'rat and mink meat work just as well.I alway make my set for mink 18 in. deep unless alot of hard clay or rock.I talked to a guy in International Falls Min. with hardly any open water the first day said the pockets work there but very limited use.Just got the last of 500 traps put back on sliders tody and all this mink talk has me all jacked up.Get some bait and I am ready to roll.
