You need to scout twice the land you think you can cover. And run the road ditch if legal.I trapped mink mainly against BernieB in N. Iowa..He puts a fish on rebar and had junk traps. All to my advantage. In my area it is illegal to have exposed bait.

It would be good to have some high coon prices with 4 dollar gas.But local buyer's aren't going to give the farm away in the beginning of season until they figure out what is going on with the catch. It goes down way faster then going up.I'll ship some but I won't hold my breath the trapping supply dealer's always play the hype.

Soak your castors in distilled water over nite then grind. The water will keep them from freezer burning and they will last along time frozen. That is a Bill Nelson trick. He may know a thing or too.

I talked to his wife Norma and he was very sick from his old cancer treatments. He was a very sharp man studied weather and everything that might give him a slight edge.I like to listen to him tell stories and try to pick is brain. He was a quit guy and I would love to see him in action when he was young.

do the Grizz's work better than the coon cuff? The cuff work but take alot of messing around to set .Do you set the Grizz on top of the ground or bury it like a cuff?

I just got done catching 84 coon and they ate all the bait every time the bucket was fired off.So every place is different but the coon down here are very hungry.Tracks all over in bucket from coon.I caught a coyote in a coon cuff this year.If you have snow the moon is getting brighter I notice I have more refusals on bright snow.I did notice the coon are running more high trails and less along the water. They seem to be hit and miss on bait the nelson bait worked good on the coon and grinner's I caught'.

I was shown to use 4 or 3 long springs in the bale set.One at the front pile of straw at 6 in. out and the other 14 in back .Very little staw between the jaws to brake out line of trap.Never put straw cross wise or will plug trap.I could not figure why that coyote would just stick it's rump up and lay down again.I bet that didn't feel to good.Got some pics. of some bobcats in a bale set also. It's a easy set to keep working in the snow just fluff up and reset. But everyone and there brother checks them out.A fox or coyote will bury down in the snow and straw and lay low for the most part.Ron Hansen use to trap under bridges when the rivers or creeks would freeze up tie two traps to a cement block with the bale set..Then snowmobiles came about and started to clean him out.
