I sold a bunch of coon today.I thought prices are up they are a lot less than last year.Sure the good ones are up but the average is down 7 bucks. That isn't worth my time in the mud and deep water.

I sold about 18 very nice coon yesterday, ones I could not get into the freezer and I needed to sell, and 9 XXXL and the rest went like 4-2xl, then @4lg 1 med never sold the small. I sold for $10 average. Never will sell to them again, have sold to these guys ever moving to Minnesota, also have bought several $1000 dollars worth of supplies from them over the last few years, never again. I do not like being taken advantage of and I sould never have sold and that was my fault, but was sick and did not have time to drive elsewhere. Same thing every year big promises and propaganda but very little delivery from the buyers, another fleecing of the trapper.

maybe they just aren`t worth what everyone was saying over the summer. I quit messing with coon years ago as #1 no fun, #2 no money. at least our indiana coon.

going to be alot of dissappointed trappers this year riding this coon fling right now. it seems all the internet trappers are targeting them. ole shag is not going to be one of them. ole shag has done this crap one to many times to do it again this year. at least our virginia coon.

Ya It's pretty pathetic. And you read where every one Is happy with the price LOL I figure with my meat market and the hide value I should be averaging around $17.00 to $20.00 per coon. I got this sweet deal going now. the guys just dump off the skinned carcasses at my place I give them a buck apiece. I can gut and bag about 40 a hour.

They pay 15 for the good coon. But the average coon the price is crap.I hate trapping coon love the mink but for 7 bucks for the mink also I will let them run.I tried to get a beaver price out of the buyer and never got a reply. At least I got 5 weeks of vacation to play trapper.

Bob you know I wouldn't do such a rotten low down thing LOl But I did learn that from groney. No my customers won't pay for the small ones 7lbs Is the cut off weight. So I just toss the few I get In for nothing Kind of a bonus thing.

With the stock market sliding, we may be lucky to get a gallon of gas for prime western bobcat.

according to some expert we can expect $3.50-$3.75 with in 30 days, $4 by next may. fuel cost is about 40% of my milage expense at $3. and milage is about 90% of my production cost. if the cat market does fold, that will about be the last breath taken by the fur market in the west ,as nothing else will even bring production costs except on a walking or hobby line. and that includes everyone, no exceptions. same in the east ,or worse, but guys will do it for recreation here no matter the financial picture. now if they would just admit it that would be ok too. there are lots of things I do that I don`t get paid for.

Well if this gas keeps going up I won't be making my trip to SC this year With no otter market and no water I won't be able to even break even. I guess I'll just stay home and go Ice fishing and run a snare line Or should I say cable restraints.

exactly the way i feel beav and i live where it is good beaver/otter trapping so no big travel expenses and zero lodging expense. and i still cannot justify it in any way to trap hard this winter for water animals. we have very little water here too, the rivers are near 100 year historic lows, so would be hard to navigate anyways. might do a couple weekends with a friend for chits and giggles but will enjoy the float on the river more than the trapping. the float is fun and easy, the trapping is hard work.
