Hey Musher have you ever used Martin glands on K-9's? And if so what was the reaction.

Steve I had one just like that. Beaver would come up once and never return. It took a month to catch it. The beaver would not even make a attempt to stop to plug the tube if open. The beaver can be a head scratcher for sure some times.

I have some glands that I use myself when working badgers but put none into lures.

Know matter how much time is spent trapping you always learn or see something that will put you in your place so to speak.

Badger as well as otter in heavy amounts will get a roll. It will attract but a roll will be coming.

I have never run a camera on coyotes on lure. I just wait till time to trap and set for the coyote to test. Give out a bunch to State trappers to test as well. Not much on first day checks but every day after it is on. To much noise being made going in and out tends to bump anything close. I am not much on Gland lure straight unless breeding season is getting close.

If you catch a badger here in Iowa a coyote will be there real quick to check it out. I usually pull trap to the edge of the mound for best results. Most of the time swivels an chain is kind of out of commission from deep dirt mounding

I believe in the visual big cow hip bone or skull for sure. A lot of times a big hunk of sod flipped up side down. The real civit will make a coyote give it up and cats as well. Seldom I have row crop setting in Iowa but in Ks. a lot of wide open spaces. I don't think bones have a big factor down there bones all over. But both Iowa an Ks. if you have cattle you have coyotes.

Minty is very strong in the cold. I never really under stand people that want super skunk smell in a lure. I want skunk to push a smell but not that straight skunk hit in a lure. It has it's place a strong skunk smell but for the most part I don't want it. Like winter cold and drifting snow and you are trying to drag a coyote to a open wind blown area or pull a cat to a set yes.

I think Mink is super attractive to coyotes and cats. I know in real cold skunk works and so does mint. Been working on some new lures an baits the last 3-4 yrs. A totally new direction on formulation.

Seldom that is interesting about the popple buds. I make a Spring beaver lure for my self. It has about 1 month of effect on beaver but it has popple bud oil in it. The coyotes go right after it right into the water or water line to work it. This is Spring only. I am working of a fruit type lure for early season coyote trapping. Here the turds are full of deer hair. Right now again rabbit numbers are low again this year.

I am like Steve . I leave things un touched for 2-3 days depends on the snow how deep. I use sticks to guide with by trap. I try to stay high at all times which helps in the snow. Got me a big leaf blower to blow a large area clear. I check some traps make sure my water proofer program is working. Then hope all the snow leaves soon. Have went to 4 coiling all my traps after 2 years so the fire up hard,

I hate it when farmers say no gas on the bean ground. You get all set in boom it warms a little here it comes. And so goes the traps run over or hooked by the diggers.

I was asking any one. I mainly like draws or water ways. Corn the darn stalks get wrapped in the chain makes a mess. Not much of a line fence guy had to many wind drifts of snow over my traps. Kind of gun shy.

Here is one for ya. We have a lot of corn here as well. How is your catch in a corn field compared to a bean or hay ground fields? If the corn field is baled or disked it is good for coyotes. But stalks' I struggle with consistent catches.

I know one guy that shoots a night scope No suppressor . But he has no ambition hunts with 2-3 people. Guess he is afraid of the dark LOL . Says he see's packs of coyotes and throws crazy numbers of coyotes he gets. One time this cattle guy called me I got 5 coyotes in 2 nights on cow an calf herd. This guy said he shot 12 in one night. I told him why did they stay around after you shot he had no answer.

I ran into the same thing for the last 2-3 yrs. Roll in double or more and it goes dead. And it never improves, Something has been killing my pups, They are thin and even some adults. I let a big chunk of ground lay last year never trapped it. I will see what happens this year.

I think it is a head scratcher, That the same traps hit all the time an the others sit. I do one pee set at every location just for the standers watching there buddy's spin. Last 2 years remakes are the king.
