seeing how I live in the state of Missouri I think what is going on there now is well just wrong in many ways. The damage, luting and violence is out of control and none of it will do anything to bring back a kid that decided he was better off fighting for his street cred versus just surrendering and paying his fine for stealing less than 50 worth of cigars.

The evidence is over whelming and I guess a certain percentage of the African American population there see this as an opportunity to be thugs. Robbing a liquor store blind , bashing in windows on businesses in the neighborhood and wrecking things? how is anyone to take this seriously? really?

The parents said this is deeply disappointing that the officer will not stand trial for the death of their son, what about the part where he tried to beat up and assault a law enforcement officer? Went against the commands of the officer and decided to fight versus flee even after being shot.

As one African American man put it, " if we want race issues to end, then we need to quit bringing up race issues".

Then our President sees to it he finds the need to get involved with a special statement? I mean really? how many white and colored kids are killed daily in this country? Shooting each other and police officers in many areas having to decided to shoot or not? After commands not followed or aggressive behavior from either whites or African Americans looking to do them harm?

I have found no common sense to be used in much of this silly mess what so ever..............

There is no other high level political figure in the USA at the current time that has the unique opportunity to try and calm this situation down so I don't feel your bashing of his actions has much merit in my opinion. His lack of doing anything to me would be more unethical than using his unique credentials to try and help bring some relief to the situation. If he did nothing the Conservative talking heads would be asking why he did not so he may as well choose the actions he wants to and take his lumps.

From what I've read of the evidence presented to the grand Jury I would also agree with their verdict. I know from my EMS days that eye witness accounts are the very least accurate accounts. Things get distorted very quickly, people just can't seem to resist adding details that the didn't really see.

In this case the President has special status since he's a shining example of what a black man can aspire to. I think any other President would have undoubtedly commented as well. Johnson certainly commented during the Watts riots as did George HW Bush during the Rodney King riots.

I just don't understand the mentally of looting and burning your own community down, getting innocent people injured or killed, and putting the few businesses out of commission that were there for them. I am sure there are plenty of people who live there that don't understand it either.

We never here of him talking about all the black youth killed daily across this country and yes he commented long before the riots started and not all comments where on the riots but more HIS personnel feelings on the issue.

two issues here-

1) the Ferguson thing- I too agree with the verdict- much as I dislike cops in general, and far to many true innocents ARE killed by trigger happy cops (cameras on every cop is going to be the answer) this wasn't the case here-

The pure flip flopping he does yes gets to me says not his pace to comment yet is on video many times through his 2 terms as POTUS clearly interjecting his own personnel feelings on issues during that time.

I feel HE and Holder are not doing any good in this area with some of their comments what so ever. Gov Nikon has a lot of things to talk about as well and this issue a,one could be his down fall as governor, many,many people here want answers as to one. Where he was that night,2 what happened with the national guard and 3 when he stated early on long before evidence or a grand jury hearing where in place he wanted a vigorous prosecution of this case .

My best friend is a retired law enforcement game warden, I worked with him for 6 years, he had 23 years in service and I know and worked with other C0's as well and different personalities and where one is working in such a job has an impact of how they handle people and carry themselves. If one spends time around law enforce one can see they try to blend I to the environment they are in.

Trigger happy cops? How many encounters in no day across this country do law enforcement officers have with people? Then how many include a shot fired? I am betting the percentage of such is less than 1 percent daily so trigger happy fits how?

I think it's ridiculous that the president should have to comment about the deserved death of one violent thug; but nonetheless, he had to. If Obama hadn't at least tried to quell the violence, his critics would have bad-mouthed him for doing nothing.

It bugs me that no one in the media has the guts to call that thug Mike Brown for what he was. I'm so fed up with CNN's obsessive coverage of this event that I've switched (however temporarily) to watching Fox News. At least Fox can find other stories to cover. And doesn't try to portray the thug as an innocent victim.

"Trigger happy cops?
Having worked in Central Booking in a jail for a short time, what I saw was that young, or new cops tend to develop a god-like attitude for a time before they settle down. They feel like real hotshots. If one looks at the ages of these cops who have been involved in shooting of guys that are unarmed lately, they tend to be under 30 and fairly new to the force. Same attitude happened with some young fireman and EMT's I worked with over the years as well.

Yes, I do think some of them are a bit trigger happy and if older more seasoned officers had been in the same situations, could be they wouldn't have happened.
Attitude can often cause trouble where there need not be any, in both officers and perpetrators.

James, Obama feels the same way as al sharpton if one reads between the lines. A federal investigation into this is not the norm and I feel there was no racially motivated actions in this case what so ever yet the prsident,holder and others still want to keep bringin up the race card. I agree with you this 18 year old was nothing but a thug and to think this shooting as not justifiable is well not seeing the facts and truth at all.

Pam of course young rookie law enforcement comes out of many academy's looking to take on the world, the love of the job and now they are trained is a big part of it. You can blame that at your state academy in many states they send potential law enforcement officers to these training places and yes many do come out with an attitude one instilled in the 12-16 week training for the most part. It is after they get a placement and relise they must live and deal with people they start to take on their own more laid back persona if you will.

To think this officer fits that criteria as being gung-ho? No he was trying to keep himself alive and I felt from watching his interview he was remorceful and truly didn't want to take this thugs life but he left him little choice, not a cold blooded killing at all look at the numbers of rounds fired and location of rounds and one can see this kid was surely nervous about aiming down on this guy.

The real,questions need to be is why would you assult an officer and attempt to dis arm him over a 38.00 carton of smokes? AT 18 years of age where is your reps left for law enforcement if your willing to do such acts over a misdemeanor theft crime? They talk this thug up,like a saint on some news stations. I think a serious talk needs to be given on the fact that law enforcement is there for a reason and when you commit a crime your going to be confronted and held accountable for your actions and quit trying to resist and follow orders until you have your chance in court.

I firmly believe he follows orders that kid is alive today and is back out on the street in hours.

You have mere moments to make a decision if an assailant is charging you, what happens if Michael a brown gets the officer gun while he is still in his police vehicle? What happens if he doesn't stop him on the bull rush? What happens if brown follows the officers commands? More importantly what happens in brown never steals the smokes in the first place?

What we had since the 70's is people dealing in meth, we have more young kids and adults packing semi automatic, fully auto weapons and they are not afraid to use it on law enforcement, people do not hold law enforcement officials in the same regard as they did years back either. law enforcement used to be respected far more and people listened to orders far better as well.

We talk about the police and the deaths, yet in Chicago alone over 400 deaths by homicide and 40 percent ages 17-25 , where is the cry for the behavior that leads to such? How many of these who are onions the shooting would think twice about drawing down on law enforcement?

Some make it sound so easy to be a law enforcement official, in some areas far easier to know who your dealing with than large metro as with a higher rate of violent crime and having mere seconds to make a decision that could cost you your life.

Human,ice has been discounted greatly in the last 30-40 years many homicides go unreported in larger cities these days as it has become a daily occurrence. sad really but we are dealing with people that could care less about taking a life in this day and age, killing each other over the silliest of reason, at least in MOST cases law enforcement is dealing with hostile situations.

It has a lot to do with what the media decides to make an issue of Tman, we talk about the ferguson deal and a lot of the media wants to portray this as a bad shooting, never mind the FACT this kid was a punk and tried to take on in a hostile manner a law enforcement officer, yet the media hypes it, some others hype it and we have a city in a big mess because of the hype and little facts they are using to base their actions on.

We have kids killing kids with guns everyday for NO reason what so ever, yet no one is burning things down, luting or rioting over the deaths of these kids because it doesn't make news and was done against each other and not involving the law enforment.

I can wrap my mind around Law enforcement and a split second decision at times, versus planned out Gang bangings and drive by's done all over the US. Where is the cry for these people? We want to tear down our entire law enforcement personnel and do federal investigations on a legal self defense shooting, versus spending resources stopping the senseless killing done on a daily basis teens killing teens, yep sounds good to me for using our time and resources wisely..........

Tman it is and was the media, how anyone could make up the stories and report falsehoods like many media outlets did prior to the evidence coming out and then for media like CNN to keep portraying this punk as some kind of martyr is beyond millions of people.

We had the very people who live in that community loose a lot and it had nothing to do with this shooting what so ever! Looting and burning of businesses will have no impact on an issue like this what so ever. The media kept stoking the fire for a headline just FACT.

We still have a federal,investigation going on which they have No I chance, none nada zero of ever getting any type,of conviction on this law enforcement officer, not because of him being such, but because the evidence showed what truly happened and all of those that changed their stories or stuck to the lies should be brought up on perjury charges as well.

All the information is there for anyone to read the hours of testimony, the 3 autopsy's done and the scientific evidence to back it up. there was no shooting in the back, there was no he was on the ground with his hands up, the blood showed the truth, many eye witnesses under oath backed up the officers accounts, others decided to change their stories after being under oath.

The blood,in the cop car, the blood on the street, the mere fact this guy was shooting a very accurate hand gun and shot that many times and missed at those ranges tells me he was nervous and really did not want to kill anyone that day. yet even after a fight while the officer was in his vehicle for his gun, the powder residue work done, the blood in the car, the confrontation on the street and how it all went down let this officer little choice.

But media outlets keep saying Big Mike was gunned down and have to ask why? Good grief.......

The tanks or at least the national,guard should have been there the day of the verdict and maybe some of these business owners in town would have something left, Nixon will feel the heat over this debacle for some time. he called out and told everyone the national guard would be there for deployment, what other day would they need more so than the night of the verdict? then the mayor has no,direct line to him,on this night? many people in Missouri are awaiting Nixons answer to these questions.

I have been to St. Louis:-) What I AM saying is that it's very possible a "seasoned" officer might not have gotten himself into that situation in the first place.
His attitude when he first made contact with them could have made the difference between a confrontation or not. There's a big difference between "Would you please walk up on the sidewalk" and "Get your A** out of the road." However, I admit, I don't know what he said to them or how he said it.
Although Zimmerman wasn't a real policeman, his attitude was, to me, the real cause of the Trayvon Martin shooting.

The attitude of the people being confronted makes a large difference as well.

Look at the statistics , homicide rates for white cops shooting people versus white on white or African Americans shooting each other and tell me where the problem lays? That mindset translates to anyone! they have no fear of law enforcement in many inner cities across this country anymore.

I will take my chances being talked to or being told to follow commands by a law enforcement official than going into East St Louis , North St Louis or other large inner city at night to stay alive.

I once was stopped for speeding just east of Sturgis,SD two officers one on each side of my truck family in with me, the passenger side officer I could see in the mirror had his hand on the gun until he approached far enough to see it was My wife and kids, then relaxed. I found that a bit odd at first but realized the rally was just 1 week removed, human nature dictates actions at times , working the rally with 100,000's of strangers versus working the normal Sturgis population .

We had a nice talk but that happened because I followed their commands. Could have been far worse for me if I would have decided to be defiant from the get go. Like I am sure they spent. A week with more than an avg number who acted as such.

CNN is lying when they say Ferguson protests were ‘peaceful’

Here’s a quiz for you folks in the media: What happens if you’re out doing “man on the street” interviews but none of the men on the street fits your “narrative”?
If you’re CNN, you stop interviewing them.
It has been remarkable to watch the last few days as America’s self-styled “most trusted news network” has sent out teams of reporters to various areas of Ferguson, Missouri, ostensibly to cover the protests there. While their cameramen are watching cars on fire and stores being looted, the reporters ramble on about how “most people here” are “peaceful protesters.”

Where are these peaceful protesters? The reporters can’t seem to find any. Instead, they turn to outside experts and some carefully vetted religious leaders to talk about “the real message” of the protests.

On Tuesday night, CNN correspondent Jason Carroll was reporting, “Most of the protesting we saw in front of the Ferguson Police Department tonight was peaceful.” Then as he started trying to explain the fires burning behind him, he was approached by three of the protesters, who proceeded to get in his face and yell at him because he was promoting a “certain narrative” — the police narrative. “You don’t understand!” one screamed.
Anchor Don Lemon quickly went elsewhere, saying he was worried about Carroll’s safety. When Lemon returned to Carroll later in the broadcast and asked him what the men were saying to him, Carroll refused to say. The reporter was stonewalling because, he explained, these men didn’t “represent” the peaceful protesters who were really the story.
CNN’s “narrative” was laid out early on Monday evening as correspondent Van Jones (formerly of the Obama administration) warned the audience not to pay attention to “a few knuckleheads” who later became a “bunch of knuckleheads” who “started a bunch of nonsense.”


Knuckleheads? Nonsense? When did “knucklehead” become a synonym for arsonist? When did taking a baseball bat to store windows become “a bunch of nonsense”? Talk about defining deviancy down.
On Tuesday night, Lemon even asked Jones about the difficulty they were having in finding peaceful protesters to interview, and Jones replied that “a lot of these young people are on the knife’s edge between violence and nonviolence.” What does that even mean?

Lemon did not ask. Instead, he returned to Marc Lamont Hill, who explained that the problem is not the protesters but the police who have been “disingenuous” by closing off a road to protesters after they heard shots being fired.
Again, he notes that the protesters were very peaceful — and would have remained so if it weren’t for those police officers making people so angry by stifling their voices.
This is a news organization that has lost all sense of its role.
There was even a debate among these knuckleheads — sorry, correspondents — over whether they should have aired video of Michael Brown’s stepfather standing on top of a car yelling, “Burn this bitch down,” right after the verdict was released.

When the Brown family called for peaceful protest, that was reported, but this outburst may not have been newsworthy, according to some of the CNN experts.
Come on. Enough is enough. These were not peaceful protests from the beginning.

Civil disobedience does not happen at night. No matter when the grand jury decision was announced, people who are engaged in peaceful protest take out their signs and march down the street in broad daylight.

Peaceful protesters don’t wear creepy anarchist masks or even bandannas to cover their faces. They are protesting with a clear conscience and are happy to have anyone know their identity.
Peaceful protesters do not dress like they are about to knock over a convenience store because they are not about to knock over a convenience store.
From day one, CNN has twisted the Ferguson story. The network decided early on that an injustice had been done, contrary facts aside. When the grand jury decided not to indict, CNN was primed for outrage, because there was no way Officer Darren Wilson could have acted appropriately.
The network helped stir up a nation to the point of violence. Yet, since the protesters must always be on the side of the angels, CNN lies about the destruction that follows.
It’s rare you see the liberal media’s dishonesty in such stark terms, but CNN can’t control the pictures. If you wanted to know what was really happening this week, all you had to do was press the mute button.
