Had a good time at the NTA got to see some old faces and some new as well. It was good to see people and talk trapping. Looks like they had a good attendance and many people looking and buying the new duke DP coon trap, question is why didn't they make this thing with a push trigger to begin with???
Saw the new montana #2 RJ dog on, wish they would have done that with an offset, but John said he didn't want to take away from the rolled edge.
That #5 is a monty 4 on steriods!!!!!
New guys selling lures from some old recipes and some new DVDs out there for people to watch as well.
Didn't pick up much, but did get a JC Conners trowel very well built as the norm with JC's products. He has some new chaps out with knee pads looks good for the cactus, just wish the pads would be about 2 times as thick, but may have to order a pair to save the knees and keep out cactus.
I purchased a few new coyote lures to try out as well, first time I had to really smell the russ carmen pro line lures.
Weather was perfect got a little hot and sticky on Saturday.

I did not get a chance to meet many visitors, being down in the demo area most of the time. Six days of getting up very early to get in line for a shower makes for a long day. Really got heavy rain Sunday AM, some areas near by got 3 inches. My 35 year old tent could not take that and I spent the rest of the night in my vehicle trying to catch a wink.

TC39, Why would you want the Duke DP to have a push type trigger?? Wouldn't you agree that a two way push / pull trigger would be optimal??
Did you have a chance to see the new Coon Dagger with the two way trigger?

Yes I did and if I where using them I would want push only forget the pull, I want it to go off with the paw going down inside the tube. I see no need for a pull trigger at all. That was my point why didn't they make the duke with a push trigger? So in order to get both it cost you 13.00 more dozen correct?
The coon dagger and it's smaller opening at theast it looked smaller to me because of using sq stock and little room for the foot to get a round the trigger I would just make them all push triggers IMO. With just push all I would need is for that coon to stick his paw down the tube 1 time and not have to worry about will he pull up on the arm? Carlis as least made something that will allow a push device, Duke should have done that from the get go IMO.

Actually my opening on the Dagger is 1 1/4' flat to flat and the Duke is 1 1'4 round which makes mine a little larger if you would go corner to corner. And the reason they didnt make it a push is they dont design anything. They see something that sells good, figure a way to either steal the idea or get around the patent and copy it. Talked to the guy that invented the crimp on center swivel they use on the #5 and Duke was to pay him so much per year to use it and he has yet to see a penny.

Well glad you have the aftermarket push type offering as I would never consider using them with just a pull trigger, just me though.
Never been a duke fan never will be, again just me.

not being a duke fan from those not using enough dukes to spit at, means nothing to me.
what means something to me, is someone catching 100s and 100s and 100s of coyotes and untold coon, mink, etc from them-
back to the if you don't know.....don't say you do. Your constant putdown of Dukes with zero to little experience with them, gets old.
I like knowledge to temper opinions but thats maybe just me..............

Tman don't mean to offend you just stating my opinion. Saw them when they first came out and said nope. The bridgers just seem to be better built more in line of the old NW line. Better quaility control IMO.

I looked at the dukes when they first came out also, the rubber jawed ones , and was very dissappointed. I got offered free dukes if I would use them in my videos. I turned the offer down and returned the traps as I couldn`t in good conscience do that. they looked like pure junk to me, toy swivels, toy chains, poor workmanship, sharp edges everywhere. however, I have heard bill duke is very receptive to improving his line, and has done so. so that said can`t comment on the line he produces today, as never looked again. I can`t risk being the guinea pig, so rather let someone else be the testers. for sure I couldn`t recommend a product in a video that I had no faith in. I was selling knowledge, not traps. if whoever has them is happy with them and they do what they expect them to do, nothing else matters. and that is my opinion.

anyone pick up some wolf fang anchors while at the convention? I grabbed a few and the weld on tip to put on a stout driver. These things are nice at .40 each very heavy duty, thinking in most places I can run 10-12" cable and will hold very solid.

I picked up some wolf fangs and will give them a shot this year. Too cheap not to for the design. Might hold to good! And on the duke bandwagon, I have killed truckloads of beaver with their 330s, and they are, bar none, the poorest conibear on the market. I am a penny pincher but I use belisles now, safest, most user friendly bodygripper I have used.
