I think it's all the bait. Couldn't catch a cat without it! Yep, that's my story.

it really is good bait, but we all know there are lots of good baits out there, why rich carries many types, as do all dealers. and lots of dealers make good stuff. I`m just used to using rich`s and confident in it and it just feels good to me is all. plus he trades me glands or essence for it too. but I bet I could use most (MOST)any brand from a reputable source and do just as well, maybe better. who knows. either way, the bait isn`t the holy grail at all. I`ll bet old bill is laughing his kester off at all of us now, and wondering why a guy has to get dead to be famous. maybe because in real life we are all just humans with all the same parts. even tho some are litt`ler

the wacko goes by "wide river" on dobbins site, a guy from pa.. bad mouths my videos at every opportunity, repeatedly. anyone know who he is or what his agenda is? maybe I`m his daddy and he is still mad about it, I dunno, but it`s not the video, whatever his rag is. maybe I can meet the guy someday and give him his frigging 39 dollars back and tell him to shut the *&*& up. but I`m guessing he`s never bought one. probably another nta hitman. seen `em all. I feel like robert redford in that movie where they keep sending indians to kill him , for years at a time, jeremiah johnson I think.

BW: "I feel like robert redford in that movie where they keep sending indians to kill him , for years at a time, jeremiah johnson I think."
No Bob, Indians are suspicious of crazy people. They are simply trying to keep track of your whereabouts so your demons don't spread though the camp.
I actually found the silver bullet Bob and so did you but you take it for granted. I don't.
The silver bullet is LIDESAPED!

now we have 2 cigars to hand out. jeff, that word, what he said, its in mumbo jumbo. you have to re arrange the letters, like a puzzle. this should be fun to see who can figure it out. I`ll give a hint. it`s like a huge powder charge for when a guy is short on bullets, so you get the biggest bang for your buck. this is not a joke. serious.

All very interesting, and although being in the bait and lure business I probibly shouldnt be saying this, but bottom line is most properly tainted baits will work and most work well. I'd give degree of taint about as much importance, probibly more so than whether a dash of this or an oz of that in grande scheme of things. About everyone works with the same 8-12 glands/ingrediants in different degrees. In grand scheme of things, their importance gets to be a little overrated. For those thinking you need this exact recipie for sucess, hate to tell ya, but Im afraid your looking the wrong way. Bob W mentioned work, location, and more work, and having the animals available being the key to sucess, and I couldnt agree more. I think I make a pretty good bait, and by the number of high number professional trappers that use it and feedback I get, I'm pretty pleased. Now do I kid myself one bit into thinking all these guys could probibly use someone elses bait and catch 90-110% of what they currerntly are catching? Not on your life! And dont think they dont know the same thing. We've just come to have a good working relationship more than anything else, they know I do my best to keep it consistant from year to year as best I can, which is no small task, and Im not going to fudge on quality. Its more of a good working relationship with these guys who stack up big numbers than thinking I have some "secret" super duper magic in a jar. These guys are past the point of looking for magic formulas. And no doubt many other big numbers trappers have the same working relationship with other lure/bait makers that I have with my customers. Me and Bob have a running joke between us about using every high priced magic lure/bait in a jar, on 10 sets in a row and a cat, coyote or whatever walks by each one of them and goes across the fence line to be caught by a farmkid on a carp head hanging from a string. And that does happen. Does that mean whatever you where useing you should throw in the trash and stock up on carp heads, hell no. A good bait/lure should get the majority of critters to check it out, but a certain % just wont no matter what the gaurentee or showbiz headline on the bottle says. Just the way it is. I'd be very leery of any advertzement saying "will be investigated by every passing fox" or "deadlyest lure ever put in a bottle" Point in case: Beaver trapping this week, we had 2 castor mound sets 15 ft apart on a willow bank beaver where feeding on. I mad a mud pie with my lure and another nationalally known lure that smells totally different than mine. My partner made an identicle set with yet another nationally known beaver lure, he whittled a bunch of shavings on his mound, and I stuck a big fresh hunk of wood behind mine. I saw where a rat was marking so I set trap right between the 2, and stuck a 1/2 ear of corn behind it, no lure. Next day here sits a 50 lb beaver w/ a 1.5 coil clamped on 2 toes in the rat trap. Neither other set was even touched. Does that mean Ill stop using my or the other lures, hell know, and I'll never be so vain to think my beaver lure is so great i wont use someone esles. I totally beleive in using say 2 different beaver lures, even 3, to mix it up and have different smells at my sets. Also that beaver was bit up so probibly a couple more took a poke at him w/o coming into the other sets, so there was a few more than ignored the lure. A little detective work you can find out what other lures we where using, and I find them all to be good dependable lures. One preformed better than expected and one not as good. A week later maybe the reverse would be true as we only trapped about 5 days. I did find the ulimate beaver lure for spring work, just anchor a live beaver behind each of your sets!!!!! That, and maybe an ear of corn. Another point in case: If youve paid attention, Bob talked about on his last trip having a bobcat walk right by 3 sets lured with 3 different lures of mine I dare say, and walked straight into a coon remake at the 4th set w/o any lure or fluff on it. What does this mean? 1 of 4 things: 1. RK cat lure isnt worth a hoot 2. RK cat lure is the deadlyest stuff put in a bottle but at that point in time the cat could care less about it or any other magic in a bottle. 3. The cat saw the torn up circle and could care less what he smelled as his attention was on the torn up circle. 4. When squatting on his haunches making the set, Bob cut wind and the residue odor was so strong it repelled the cat away from the other inticing odors. Or none of the above, or parts of 2 of the above, or all of the above or any other number of whatevers. What is does prove is I better not ever put "no passing cat can resist blah blah lure of mine", and I beg someone to kick me square in the balls should I ever say such. It also proves even though I may enjoy the status of being Bob's favorite bait maker, he aint going to b.s. you on what he sees happen in the real world of trapping no matter whos stuff he uses. And I would venture to say if any other lure maker told you: "youd never have a cat walk by 3 of MY lures", you might just been fed a huge pile of it. Since youve all beared with my ramblings this far, let me toss out this one little tidbit of nelson bait information, whether you have version #1 or version #2 or no #27 1/2 or windows version 9.0, and you want to make something just a "little" better. add 5-10% ground oil sac shells to your meat when tainting.

fwiw, I am now sole distributer of rk`s" farts in a bottle", jugs of "torn up dirt" and "corn on the cob by the bushel". dealer cost on corn is $8 a bushel. not the $4 the elevater gets because this is special corn , lol, not sold with in 300miles of crete nebraska. dealer inquires invited. all sales final, no refunds. good post rich and about sums everything up. richs bait works for me and he isn`t a jerk, and he sells it cheaper than I can make it myself counting in my time as having some value. so that`s where I get it. probably why most guys buy whatever they buy from who ever they buy it from, it works and they like the guy.
