Tman easy answer because fur is like looking for a grain of glass dust in 40 million tons of sand compaired to that of oil and other commodities.
the bigger the squeaky wheel is the more grease it gets been that way for along, long time.
Just like the wool subsidy was taken away and the bees would be out if not so important to our daily lives as well, no bees no pollination and not many fruits or veggies grown. So we keep that subsidy for the betterment of our food supply and country.

Bottom line in many areas we will always see competition, in some like farming unless things change food will be grown by all large farm corps to keep prices down.
What would chickens or pork cost today in a grocery store if we had it like it was? Where many small farms raise 150-200 hogs annually? Where would those prices paid for pork and chicken be in order to keep small farmers in business today? With much higher Input Cost today. 4-6 dollar per lb chicken and pork be a safe bet?
With profit margins being low the only way to make money is to grow large amounts In a quicker time frame.
Well blue bunny ice cream made in Lemars, Iowa they use a lot of dairy cream and milk and I mean a lot , instead of being at the mercy of the dairy market they went a different route they contract all their milk and cream out with their own dairy farms the price changes far less and they are paying a fixed price. That is smart business to keep their product on the shelves at a more fixed price for a longer period of time. To go out and buy the amount they need annually on the open dairy market would not be good for their business.

Bryce that is where we differ, everyone looks at the small farmer and wonder where they went? Easy to see Input cost have risen a lot and commodity prices have not kept up with such, no different than th fur trapper really. Cost have risen on everything except th fur! Why would anyone wonder why trappers numbers are about extinct? The same traps we could buy 30 years ago for 35.00 a dozen are now 112 per dozen and the fur value is less . In order to mitigate cost we now have to catch 4 times the fur to offset the increased cost of just the traps not talking ,gas, vehicle, insurance etc.
You have a family of 4 on a farm of 600 acres say 160 In pasture and they run 30-35 Cow calf pairs each year they sell 45 calves at 1200 per head 54,000 before cost and the rest is a 50/50 mix of beans and corn 220 in corn yielding 160 per acre 116,000 in corn, 220 in beans at 35 avg 115,000 total is 196,000 before cost let's say he sees a return at 20 percent 39,200 at years end. if all bills are covered for 4 people.
growing more can be done cheaper you know that.
Many successful small business today is not completing with corporate giants, they are making money on markets and ideas the big companies don't relies the profit needed to make it worth their effort. Niche markets and local deals.
Example you have the big two Cabela's and Bass pro they cover a large range of products they are the big boys in the outdoor industry, yet you have some very successful small business that caters to a group of that large broad market, ever hear of Brownells? Based in Grinnell, Iowa now and they have become a very successful family owned business catering to the reloading market and shooting sports they have acquired another company called Sinclair that has been well known and respected in this area for many years. Together they take up market share against Cabela's and Bass pro by catering to the shooting Folks and have grown their business into a larger one even with having to compete with the big boys, as they have taken one section and ran with it, offering far more products across the board and at competitive prices with the big box outdoor stores, with their buying power. They just built a large building right off I-80 and that is where their very busy online orders are filled and a retail store comming soon.
They are adding jobs and tax revenue to a smaller town and I am sure the city has worked with them, they are competeing and do rather well I believe. I have no problem with a city giving them a tax break for a period of time or sharing cost to ensure those types of business stay in our local economy's . As they grow it is for the benefit of the locals in towns like Grinnell and others across the US, taxing the snot out of them or taking away some tax breaks will not lead to more people looking to have start up business.

Wondering how many religious schools are getting money from the federal govt? Doubt many are In all reality. Charter schools setup because of very poor and really under performing public schools. Another option for those in areas where many public schools have lost their accreditation to hand out diplomas.
I agree goes far deeper than just an education many other factors involved but an education is essential to learning and if they are not caught early in life the odds are really down hill for there in them engaging in much education as an older teen.
Pam I don't know many who have that mind set really, but again people have the choice to educate their children either in a public or private school, if most are willing to pay the bill. On avg teachers in private schools make less and their retirement is not as good as many public jobs and there is no tenure in a private school setting either, so many teach their because of their religious beliefs and sacrifice money, job security and retirement in doing so.
Again my cousin has taught in a catholic school for 20 years and in talking with her the same challenges exist there as in public schools.

Jim, Bryce was wondering and raised the point of how many murders are committed between citizens and illegals all I did was give him the information he was looking for.
Bryce look on a 4473 form and you will see the question about being an alien on there. The point being doesn't matter what type of criminal you are, the majority of them are not going to a store and going thou the process to buy a gun. Illegals would stand very little chance of getting thru the NICS background check system.
I will agree we make it harder on those who serve our country in the military to make a legal gun purchase than many others. They have to bring In papers from their commanding officer showing their actual residence and have their military ID showing the exact matching address as well.
Bryce how do we deal with psychopaths and their procurement of firearms exactly then?

Tman if you have investments you better look at your portfolio I am betting you will find some of your vales are for sale..............
You buy the very product from the people you dislike that being the oil barrens do you not? That is selling your values, as you I power them with each gallon at the pump. If you really didn't want your values about oil compromised you would be making your own fuel. lol
I know a few anti govt types who do just that, they have spent 30,000-50,000 on a machine that will make them their own bio diesel to be ran in their truck and tractors.

Tman have all the arrivals you want m they can only vet people who have a background to vet for crying out loud. You really think we have the resources to vet each and everyone of 1,000's comming in? Ok............... Bryce maybe a few might be terrorist? Really? Your ok with a few for the better, ent of the rest? US lives put at an increased risk and your stating a few might be terrorist so who cares? wow. Here you go Bryce GAO numbers put homicides by illegals at 25,064 in 2009 the most recent year for data on such. Please read Let’s take homicide as an example. The GAO estimates “criminal aliens” were arrested, convicted and incarcerated for 25,064 homicides. If non-citizens committed them over seven years, the annual rate would be 14.2 per 100,000 non-citizens. If illegal aliens committed them over four years, the annual rate would be 58.0 per 100,000 illegal aliens. Either way you compute, those are high rates. By comparison, the FBI reports the murder rates for the entire U.S. from 2003 through 2009 varied from 5.0 to 5.8 per 100,000 inhabitants for an average rate of 5.5. To be clear, 5.5 is much lower than either 14.2 or 58.0. Or look at the total number of homicides in those years. Per the FBI, there were 67,642 murders in the U.S. from 2005 through 2008, and 115,717 from 2003 through 2009. Per the GAO, criminal aliens committed 25,064 of them. That means they committed 22% to 37% of all murders in the U.S., while being only 3.52% to 8.25% of the population. Conclusion: criminal and illegal aliens commit murder at much higher rates than all inhabitants of the U.S. – at least 3 to 10 times higher. Tman it is no red herring and you keep believing that the right is the enemy of gun ownership if you want to.
The voting record on every gun issue brought up is there for ALL to see plain and simple see who votes for what. See what side enacts more laws on legal gun owners and who has stripped away some of those silly laws. See what states have the most restrictive gun laws In our nation and look at the state and federal level voting record of the majority in those states.
No Redding hearing at all fact. the left has tied to the people who want to see far more restrictions placed on legal gun owners in an effort to try and curb illegal activity with firearms, it will not happen period, so the laws and talk of more restrictive gun laws are their to pander to a base of voters period. Nothing more or less.
Look at states like Illionois, California and all their messed up laws pertaining to firearms and ammunition and tell me any of these rules and regs passed has done anything for the cause of curbing illegal use of firearms good grief.

Pam here schools fall, under the mo dept of education. Your correct private schools can teach to their values but they must also teach to state standards as well. Every state varies on this subject but they still have to take some form of standardized test. It doesn't have to be the state one but they do take some form of testing they do not have to release those results except to parents who are enrolled in the school.
If people would think that they are not getting a good education how many would spend the money sending to private schools?
Tman in many cases we are talking far more than 500 bucks a year! Let's take that 500 for arguments sake and say we run a 5 percent rate on those who should not be on govt Assitance, that equals 2 million people? Take 2 million x's 500 a good chunk of change.

Badgers can be targeted at prairie dog towns but the best fur comes in January and Febuary. Caught many at this time of year in dog towns and in bobcat sets.
Also dead piles become magnets for them and they can be targeted there as well in the winter when it gets really cold. Another place a road killed deer, used to have many people think mt lions where in the area but nope just a badger digging I. And laying claim to those large meat sources LOL.
No problem with the smell,of badgers and a good January badger fur is a real thing of beauty . Creamy, silky and very soft.
The ranches I trapped on where they had a dead pile for many years where badger magnets.

No Pam they are both political. Our duty comes to country first and foremost and many would argue the safety of our people is at risk with allowing many, many of these refugees into our country from a region that has had issues with our way of life.
Not to mention we are 17 trillion in debt and willing to take on how much more for these 1,000's of refugees? How long will they stay here? What real vetting process do we have in place? Are they going to become working members of our country or not? How can they work without some documentation? Who will make such? What is the true cost and risk of having these people here?
I don't see many trying to relax the gun check law we have now, the opposite is true! Those on the left want even stricter gun control laws.
Bryce the Supreme Court has spoken on th 2nd amendment the rest is purely political in nature. Like AR ban and magazine ban by Bill Clinton over turned by GEorge Bush. Anyone with common sense knew this would have little to NO effect on gun violence but more a pay back for votes. Again we still have a state like California that likes to limit magazine size and thinks it will help solve gun violence issues it does not, just adds more cost to manufactures and what they can and cannot ship to the state of California.
No mention of how quick one can change out a magazine in a pistol or rifle. 10,15.17, 19 really what is the difference? Less than 3 seconds and another magazine can be in most firearms.

That is what gun control,is all, about is politics. Trying to take care of this base or that base anti gun or pro gun. What we need is common sense but that has no bearing inside of politics or we would be far better off.
Tman easy to see look at states with the most restricted guns laws and how they vote in an overwhelmed majority, not rocket science is it?
Pam I realize that guns are not allowed in many stadiums. NFL, MLB,NHl etc.
You made my point rather well this was less about guns and more about terrorist and bombs. Covert suicide bombers have nothing to do with gun control or lack their of.

Tell me how all these Syrians are vetted please? They have no real, system as many do not have ID and we have 1,000's of them comming in those are facts. Otherwise pint me to the info stating exactly how these people are all vetted.
The Supreme Court did their job and in Fact made the gun laws looser in many states with their decision. Look at their voting on the 5-4 ruling says it all.
If the left had more power the ruling would have went another way!
Easy for any president to try and make points when it comes down to a Supreme Court decision.
People must understand if they want their freedoms protected then voting in a president is far more important than my guy or gal won. Far deeper than that as we know.

No not really you can use percentage to ones advantage or disadvantage, if we each get a 5 percent raise and you make 10 per hr and I make 20 per hr who,is better off?
Your getting .50 while I get 1.00.
If we are paying taxes and you make 35,000 and pay in 1,200 after deductions your percentage is around 4 percent and say I make 300,000 and I pay 6 percent I am still, paying in 18,000 so I am paying 16,800 in more in taxes than you do.
You might think that is not near enough and I would say the same for you.
The issue being many making 35.000 and a few defendants actually get a check back not too many making 200,000 are getting a check back. The small, business man might have more deductions but he is also paying in far more different taxes than most who punch a clock each week. Private people don't pay near the taxes a business does those are just the facts.

I rail against those on the public dole that should be doing something for what they are getting, not those who do not have the mental or physical ability to work!
But again even the mentally challenged have places to go to work and feel self worth and those are funded in part by our government, we should be doing that for people with far more capacity than those with true mental disabilities. Instead of hangin on the front porch with cell, phone in hand wasting the day away in low income housing and hanging out for hours down at the local convienance store.
You need help great, I also know those in low income that work 20-25 hrs each and every week trying to do something these people I have zero problem with.

Neither does crude oil investments they are bought into by millions and millions of people and entities to make a profit at times! Every stock we buy into, is one from an evil corporate empire !
Also our very own President was buying and selling values whe he tried to get hobby lobby forced into offering things on their healthcare plan they did not believe in. At least when we buy stocks we have the freedom to choose which ones we buy into correct?

Pam yes it is all snopes did was tell you about numbers and how they could be massaged but the numbers are still the numbers and they never stated it was false, we are all well aware of what either side can do with numbers, but the fact remains they had increase rates after the gun debacle and one could clearly see that comming.
Remember this gun ban was out in place in 1996 almost 20 years ago. The snopes paper was going off of a guy's assessment after 12 months! The KEY factor snopes never mentioned was calling in 600,000 guns at a very high cost, never lowered the violent crime rates overall to amount to a hill of beans. So why take away the guns?
That is the real question? If these super strict gun laws wgphere put in place in Australia and other countries and they do little to curb crime what is the point?
To compare one country with another is difficult as well because we are not all alike, when it comes to the make up of the people, yet places like Austraila and Chicago have super strict laws pertaining to guns and ammunition and we have not seen a major decrease in violent crimes? South Africa is also another tough place to own firearms and ammunition yet who wants to go down there?
Gun control should not be about the law abiding person, just the criminal aspects. We all know gun control will never take away guns from the criminals just make it more difficult for the law abiding citizen is all gun laws have ever done that is 100 Percent fact!
