Didnt the Idaho sale just have a $50 plus average, with tops around $98? Dont know the exact number. But heard WY was off because of mange, and MT because of no snow.

At our January 8th district fur sale we had 20 some yotes. These were all northern and eastern WI yotes. With two buyers we only saw about two price ranges. Better yotes, 25-35, poorer Yotes 6-15 with the low end poor and green. almost half of each group.

I'm going to the CO Trappers Assoc. Sale next week.
There will be close to a thousand if not a few more yotes at that sale.
In years past they've had a little of everything there - from commercials all the way up to fancy heavys.
This sale should be a big enough sample size to be statistically relevant.

Marty- aren't just about all the coyotes there western coyotes? if so, even their commercial, are better than ours.
I remember trapping in WY, early oct, and the rancher looked at a few and said "why, those aren't even furred up" I laughed and said these NOW, are better than the best I get back home- and the couple I tanned- first week of october yotes- put any of my winter coyotes here to shame here

There's stuff there from all over the country. Lynx from alaska, cats from TX, and stuff from most places in between. There were some missouri cats there last year. Some AZ stuff.
I'm a fan of the High country Foxes, they're something to behold.
There will be most every type of coyote there.

The vast portion of the coyotes there will be CO,NE,WY,MT. With of course a mix of KS,TX,NM.
Like Marty said, we will have commercials, semi heavys, but most will be heavy types of coyotes and the select eastern CO plains . We had a few highline coyotes last year from MT, that coyote is a sight to behold, amazing how white and clear those are.

Long.................You would have done better at FHA. Does Virgil let you sell there? LOL! I heard you guys had to sign exclusive "put- up" contracts. You should be able to work as "independant" contractors. What's the deal with NAFA?

I doubt he's lying to you he just doesn't know the facts. There was some talk of that being the case but It never happened. Myself and Pat would have never signed anything like that.
What I would like to do Is get a gig going like USA Foxx has. Have you ever looked at their processing prices? Fleshing only:
Rats $7.00 per pelt Coon $12.00 Beaver $11.00 Coyotes $17.00 I think I'm In the wrong business.

I had a few problems black. I went back to Moyle. Moyle seems to take longer, but does a good (consistantly) job on my fur.

USA Foxx has done right by me. I think alot of it depends on what they get sent as well many times. If you handle fur poorly your tan job will end up the same. I have had a bobcat and otter and a few yotes done all have been well handled and look great!
Fleshing prices are high for a reason they get 1,000's of furs and to spend time and labor and work comp etc on people to do this cost money. Sure as a private trapper with little outgoing cost except one's time makes the pries seem high, start paying labor and other cost and see if your fleshing for 5.00 each.
