Steve I have never tried elevating the bucket other than in bush piles where I jammed the bucket in place to stabilize it never saw much difference.

Gettin snapped traps most likely anit from your trigger placement. put wire on the back of your buckets an cut the bottoms out so they can see threw an yet walk on dirt makes them more comperfoable, or howevery ya spell it. I like my triggers on the bottom so it looks more open just like a castor set. spread bout 2-3 in apart. Also stake your buckets down as coon will walk all over it sometimes tippin it over. I find buckets work ALOT better in colder temps. I get alot less refusels when there hungery. RR

I have only used visegrips on the bottom end an a hook on the top unless the tendions are torn then a peice of cable. Seems to me the visegrips would be much faster. Once you get the hang of it they dont slip much. RR

Crayfish will stay alive for 3-4 MONTHS if put in the fridge just add enough water to cover them. I used to run a baitshop an have handled alot of crawdads. When ya take them out they wont move at first they just got to warm up.
They work ok froze an used whole but no better than a fresh fish in my opiion. It dont hurt to add some fish oil to them as they dry out quick. Id rather eat em too LOL

I work for a buyer in the winter time an the fastest way I have seen is to hang em they freeze FAST then we stack em to make more room to hang others. Of course you got to have a walk in freezer to do this. At home I lay them flat like everyone else as said. The ones laid flat unthaw ahole lot faster than rolled ones.
