Some people use loop attachments on their skinning machines while others use modified vise-grips. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?
Thanks.

thebeav.topcities.com/horizontalskinner.htmlBoth work ,but I'm not satisfied with either way, I make up enough slip nooses to rig up 10 coon.So when I open them I attach the nooses and pull them up tight. It's faster then using the vise grips. I like the system that pulls the hide off the carcass that way the carcass stays In place and you don't have to move to finish out the head area. Now I need to come up with a foot control to adapt to my winches. But I still use the vertical one more then the other ones I just like the option of haveing the carcass hanging In front of me as I open It and I don't have to re hang as I hook up the hide. But when it comes to room the horizantal ones work well. I'm working on some sort of quick connect that you can just place the hide In It and when you pull It will just tighten up. I found some sailing hardware that does that with rope but they aren't going to work on hides, just to small. well back to the drawing board. Beav

From what I've seen so far, Loop works better on coyotes and for coon... I like vise grip.

I have only used visegrips on the bottom end an a hook on the top unless the tendions are torn then a peice of cable. Seems to me the visegrips would be much faster. Once you get the hang of it they dont slip much. RR

Beav:
A while back, on the other forum, there was talk of using a butterfly valve, and I think it was you that had the light go off in your head, thinking it was a good idea.
Well, I have one and it will be mounted to my cement floor shortly. I have it rigged on a flat piece of stock with 4 uprights going through the mounting holes in the valve.
I need a 1/2" drill to put her in, and I will give it a go this year.
But, I am NOT removing the eye-bolt in the floor with my loop of nylon rope on it, just in case!
BTW, I tried the cement mixer method of waxing dirt, and to say I LOVE it would be an understatement.....no more solar melting for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
