I have a WT older model and the sounds are great, volume after switching to 12 v gel cell is great, otherwise too many wires and weight issue with the gel cell and bag backing it back in.
I just demoed the new FX3 Fox pro light weight nice unit, easy operation much better remote. Volume was an issue in the field not as loud as old WT but as loud as new WT. In wide open areas and some wind I like volume. Tried plugging in WT speaker to FX3 sounds distorted some and not the volume as the old WT.
I could add the gel cell to the FX3 but then back to carrying 2 things and the weight issue. When will someone come out with a decent unit that doesn't sacrifice volume, weight or clarity of sound all in 1 unit with no add ons to purchase or haul around?
I like the idea of being able to download your own sounds on the FX3, great feature just wish coyote vocals where better and louder with clarity at higher volume range.
Old WT has wire issues and some playing issues at times. Hoping one day all aspects are covered with one unit. Any thoughts?

I really like my FX3. I've been waiting for it to cool off to take out again.

It already has been IMHO.
I thought it was 10 years ago when the very first WT came out.

Troy, why didn't you tell me you had an FX-3? If I had known you had one, I wouldn't have bought one. After all, the only thing better than having a new FX-3 is having a buddy that has one. ;D
Does yours have a Jack in the Box as well?

You have tried the new this year model WTC? It is much more compact than older models incluidng last years. I bought a new WTC last year and about 6months later the new one came out. Figures... Have had a few issues with remote , but the clarity and volume more than make up for the minor problems IMHO Now if I could just get JS grey fox pup on it , I would be a happy camper.

I got to see and hear the new WT it doesn't have the volume of the old model!!!! The remote is nice but lacking the volume and I'm not crazy about the battery pack being strapped to the speaker either. I guess Bill says the next one he builds will be so loud you can't stand in front of it .

Thanks , was wondering about the new one. Will stick it out with one I got for now. Sounds cant be beat , but th FX3 looks like a nice walkabout unit. I throw my WTC in a backpack when trekking.

With the hearing of a k9, why do people feel they need something that is so loud you can't bear to stand in front of it?
Granted, i'm used to hunting pa. Not the west where you can see for 10 miles.

I like good sound quality and loud volume. I went with the Minaska "Bandit". Very good quality unit. Will there be a better digital caller someday? Probably, and I am betting that Minaska will build it.

TC, Been using the WT for 10 years now and NOT ONE THING has ever went wrong in all that time. I have also had EVERY model Bill has made in that time.(except the newest one) The last 9 years guideing predator hunters from all over the USA. Using it harder than ANYONE will in 2 lifetimes. NOT ONE PROBLEM! Heck, I still have the ORIGINAL battery I used on the ORIGINAL model! It doesnt hold a charge for very long these days, but it still works! Steve

I dunno,Steve,*yours* works good, been there, saw that, but mine has gone thru 2 remotes,2 batts, one partial repair and one complete rebuild............in just over 18 mo.......... Even if it had worked flawlessly, the delay required to operate the remote without"jamming"was infuriating to say the least. I am picking up one more foxpro and will be done for a while.

Have to say that WTC service is phenomanal. Had to call Bill yesterday and asked him a bit about the new model. Hope I did not make him too mad when I asked him if he could install JS grey fox pup on mine. LOL He kind of chuckled at that. He also told me to upgrade to the new caller would require switching from the 615 to the 630 speaker. Wonder if he already took care of the volume issue. I was in a hurry and did not get to get as much info as I would have liked.

I don't know Steve, I know many guys that have the WT and all have had the same problems I have had. The sounds and volume great, but I'll tell you there has been issues with all the components that make it up and if you have had zero problems in 10 years then you got the top of the lot caller for sure. Anything electronic and dealing with frequency will have issues I have just known it to be to frequent for my and others liking.
A bird told me the reason the new one isn't as loud as the old is that it runs off of lithium battery's and you can put the juice to them too much or they heat up and burn out. I don't know why the bigger speaker on the new unit unless he is looking at some type of add on to make them louder but I can assure you there not as loud as the old WT.
Hunkyboy, out west that vast area can and will eat up sound in a hurry and volume is a true key in adding realism to the entire setup, I would rather have "too much" volume than not enough as it can make them coyotes sound like there a few miles away and if out of the territory your response can/will drop off. The closure you can setup on them the better off a guy is IMHO and when you just can't get close enough the added volume pays dividends on calling them in or not.
