That possibly the biggest political event of our time is unfolding and we're talking about bounties on coyotes?
FWS do you still have health insurance?

Yes I hear you. The president that said you can keep your plan if you like it, then stated no I meant you get to keep it if your coverage is good enough, then today states well I hope your insurence company allows you to keep your old plan for at least another year.
We need 4 million to make affordable healthcare work and we have less than 600,000 signed up mean while eeryone else who has decent coverage is seeing prices rise and companies not knowing really what comes next. This has to be one of the biggest gaffs in any admin in the last 20 years?
yet coyote bounty talks keep me from thinking about the reality of this messed up deal and I still wait until the end of December to see how this whole thing will negatively effect my health care coverage. I will know soon enough. Hoping it isn't to bad?

Funny the talk just a few weeks ago was can a R win enough electoral votes to become president? Wondering now how they can't win if things keep going south on this monumental deal?

I think the Dems are done for, unfortunately a number of people are going to suffer health complications, bankruptcy and death will be the consequences for some/many.
Bush caught hell because of failed Government, Obama has seemed determined to beat his sorry asss and now he's succeeded. He's won the race to the bottom.
One can hope that this will be a turning point as people begin to realize that "government isn't part of the problem, Govt. is the problem!!"
1/8th of the economy fcked up.

"..suffer health complications, bankruptcy and death will be the consequences for some/many."
And that would be a NEW development?
This is NOT the end of the country as we know it. There's no big rush to sign (March 15th is the deadline)it doesn't affect most of the people in the country and the Repubs don't hate Obamacare, they hate the President. They've made it a big deal when so far it's all a tempest in a teapot. With some patience, it will work out.

Im curious if anyone here really has been affected personally? Not your neighbor's friend's sister either. Has YOUR insurance been cancelled and there's no affordable alternative available to you in the exchanges?
Cheers, Pam

Medicare premiums are up a bit but Medicare with a supplimental is better than the "expensive, fabulous health care insurance" I had when I was a public employee. Aortic heart valve replacement surgery, follow ups and 12 weeks of rehab and not one bill to date. May have some deductables yet but in 7 months no payments as of yet. I am financially OK with a decent retirement income. One of the guys that was in rehab with me owns 3 businessess and invests in land and he had similar surgery and recovery as me and he too pays zip. That is the one thing Medicare does for the elderly as we are all treated the same inspite of our financial status and that allows different ecnomic groups to enjoy each other's company without all the bias and bigotry and shame based statements that occur in other age groups.

Not any multi millionaires in my teaching group and that includes the 150K presidents of the Tech College. The income level of the public worker groups are very uniform in most cases. That is not so with Medicare and when the ACE rolls out there will be less service quality difference even with wide income and wealth differences. That is the social part most appreciate, accept and desire; who pays what and how much is always the sticking point and it always will be with any program be that defense, housing, tax credits, welfare farm subsidies, conservation payments whatever.

"So is a group plan Bryce what is your point? "
Has your group plan never raised it's rates? Most rates depend on the health of the overall group. If the rate goes up this year it will no doubt be blamed on the ACA, but in reality could be just some major illneses in the group.
The point to all this is that uninsured, for whatever reason, can be insured with decent coverage.
In WI I find it ironic that our Gov refused to set up exchanges, turned down millions in Fed money for Medicaid and was going to kick off 100,000 people. Now he's decided to "extend" their coverage. I think it's just a ploy so enrollment in the exchanges will be low and the ACHA will look like it's not working. I'm guessing other Republican Gov's who chose not to set up their own exchanges and/or turned down fed money for medicaid will do the same.
Too bad they have to play games with people's health.

I have seen several people on my facebook page comment that their insurance has been cancelled. I know of two others that have told me personally that they have been cancelled.
I have a doctor client that says that it has disrupted his business significantly.
The numbers floating around this issue are laughable if it was a laughing issue.
The whole thing is like an Aesops fable, the emperors new clothes and Pinocchio all wrapped up in one story.

Pam I know what our rates have been and what increase Avgs have been for the last 5 years that is shown every year. I am looking to see A if our rates do a double digit increase hope not! B to see if our coverage is effected by Obama Care. Meaning I have excellent health insurence I pay 324.00 per month will,I be able to keep this plan or will this plan go away and I will pay the same for a lesser one? Again hope not I hope we sty with the same 3 plans one can choose and our rate increase remains avg or a tad above.
Now again Pam I have to stay inside my PPO for the great care to cover the best and I can't go anywhere across the nation but I have plenty of people in the PPO to choose from including a ton of specialist if needed. I am in an area with great hospitals and doctors. So I don't see a PPO has a negative.

Joel, I haven't seen a meaningful increase on my insurance in three years. And I would know because the way my union insurance is set up if they need more monies for the insurance I have to give up a part of my salary on the check.
But than again most of the mandates that are stipulated we had. About the only two I can think of we didn't was the no lifetime max and kids until 26. Who would have thought they were kids that long.
I know of one couple told me they were getting kicked off but its possible obamacare wasn't the culprit I agree though obummer has been trying to make bush look good.

As with most things in life this huge issue too will work itself out, just as we have learned to live with a multitude of regulations not related to health care. Sure most of us don't want more regs and also the government steps in where it feels that our society and our citizens could benefit from their interference and or because left to their own desires those that provide services can and do so in a bias way. No in a totally private sector world with no equality by design that is the acceptable and normal way. We have a Declaration of Independence that states that we as a nation will work to uphold the equality of all. Were going to hear stories about those kicke out and cancelled every year until this nation ceases to exist. Do we want to dwell on those or do we want to work to minimize the issues impacting the health care of 300 million citizens. I think it is foolhardy to believe that a major piece of legislation such as ACA would not impact to a certain extent all of us becuase what we are doing is changing significantly who has coverage and who does not. I would think that the younger citizens who will be paying the freight on the onset of the ACA will appreciate that 30 years from now they will want the younger citizens in the plan as well. If the ACA works as part of the law desires and that is to make us healthier then over time the costs won't be esculating as fast as they may be during the ramp up and sign up. If I were a profit based insurer I would be cancelling if I could and also raising premiums to cover the unknown if I can get away with it. This will all simmer down over time just as we are seeing a big decrease in ethanol demand due mostly to less gas being used. Once people get used to higher prices and longterm trends of higher prices they make significant changes in lifestyle and the announcement that the ethanol need or mandate is lowered has impacted the corn market signifciantlly just over the last 3 months.

Yeah, just get used to it.........
Like $4 diesel, $10 hamburgers, etc. etc.
Don't get me wrong, if there is one thing I might bend toward Socialism for it would be healthcare.
But it sure looks to me like the results are going to be the same as anywhere it's been tried before, mediocre at best, horrendous at worst.
Bryce are you telling us that you think that the young people are going to sign up in droves for altruistic reasons? I hope you have a better read on human nature than that.

"...you think that the young people are going to sign up in droves for altruistic reasons.."
Nope, they'll sign up because they're mandated by law to.
TC I don't know how old your kids are, or if you have any, but having had two daughters who went to college (one didn't finish and one was on the 5 year graduation plan) I can tell you that it was a concern for their parents the few years after they turned 21 and were no longer covered under ours, that they had no health insurance coverage at all. They may not techinically be kids at 26, but they won't necessarily have good jobs with benefits by then either.
Personally I do think if Obamacare made one mistake it was setting the age of coverage under parent's insurance too high. I would have set the limit at 24 knowing they would have access to health insurance exchanges.
I think Bryce is correct, people get used to things. I was just thinking today as I drove by the gas station, it's down to $3.11 per gallon here. Who could imagine 3 or 4 years ago one would think that was cheap.
Cheers, Pam

Pam I have 4 kids and when I went to college as I was covered until I graduated then I found a job before I graduated that was FT and offered me healthcare. I knew in my early 20'a I wanted and searched jobs that offered benefits, do I want young people to face a large health bill? No. I also don't want this govt to think they can take away ALL risk in everyone's lives either. Risk and responsibility are good things and I see that lacking in a larger percentage of young adults in this country each year. Maybe I'm geting too old already with my line of thought ? LOL.
Every college now has a fee most run 90-100 a semester for on campus healthcare simple stuff like seeing a nurse and getting common simple medications as well. You don't have a choice it is a fee one must pay. no matter how good your kids healthcare is.
I have a senior he will be off to college next fall and then 2 more girls gone after him each year and they have a plan except for my sophomore daughter she has yet to decided her life course. I tried to instill in them don't waste the time or money and really think about what you want in life and how to best obtain those goals. I rank the cost post secondary education up there as a main concern. too many young people will pay back large sums of money and will receive what benefit from it? MY kids will all leave with debt I have no choice in that but I have also told them upon graduation live life in a range that affords you your best chance to pay off your loans in 10 years max. Don't over extended and make far more than the min payment the quicker you can remove this type of debt even if low interest the better your lives wil be.

Pam at 26 I had 2 kids and one on the way. In my lifetime I've only had insurance through one employer and two different union locals. All three covered kids in college until 24.
Its probably different in other areas of the country but where I live I can find anyone a job with insurance within a couple months tops.
Only one caveat though. You have to be employable.

Yup Pam, those young people that voted for Obama are going to get a lesson in politics. They voted for a pied piper and he just stuck them with paying for all of us old folks health care.
Since there aren't as many of them as there are of us, and since we are older and sicker they just got stuck with less opportunity and money for themselves and their kids. (our grandkids).
I've been saying that for a long time, they are going to have to make the call about whether to use their resources for us or for their children.
Our generation just committed financial genocide on those following us.
Oh, I forgot, they voted for change. I don't have sympathy for them anymore, but I do for the Grandchildren of this country.
