i have bought 600 of these...now when i drive them in to a shale bank they have came up a good 4 incehs b4 setting and this is on 12 1/2 inches of cable..now my father has put them on 11 or so inches of cable and drivin them in his yard and he can litterly pull them out with his hand and they never set....any one else have this problem with them? we drove a pipe disposable in beside them and he can pull his out with his hand but it pulls up a big dirt clod with it where the spere dosent..... he even put one on a 20 inch cable and went to the neighbors yard and drove it in..pulled up about 10 inches b4 setting and after set pulled out with his hand....any ideas?

wch,
Interresting. Since I went to cables I have not had this happen. but when I pull the driver out I also pack a little with the driver down the hole. Not saying your doing anything wrong. I would like to hear some more. I really though about changing over to them.

Walker, I got a bunch in last week and had the same problem.
I could pull 18" out by hand. Not impressed.

The only place I've used them so far was out in Ks where it was bone dry and rock hard, I did notice that they pulled easier than the Iowas or pogos but they held pretty good from what I saw. I'll have to take some out here where its wet and try them out.....B.....

Brian/Walker,
Intially, I thought my driver was too large diameter. I made it out of 5/8 rod and machined the grooves.
Also, I used 1/8" cable.
What dia. driver are you guys using?

the drivers are 5/8 that they sent...im useing 3/32 cable. i was thinking the driver might be too large also but as i thought about it the spere is 1 1/4 wide...so it dosent matter it SHOULD STILL SET...will do some testing further tomorrow with one and see...but as of first impressions im not impressed at all...

Don't know but have a "maybe" idea.
Seen the photo of those stakes and here's my tough.
Drive them 45-60 degrees and try to set it. Think that will help a lot because there's no angle done on the stakes or a bend like on the Berkshire.

I'm going to make a 1/2 in. driver and bend the two tail pieces down and see if they set any quicker and hold better. Any comments from the guys who used them.

I looked at them too when OG sent out the ad on it but I could see that unless you have the right soil type with the size of these I take it the picture on the flyer is actual size? and mounting the cable in the middle that it would be hard to get it to take a good set in "alot" of soil types. I'm still a solid stake guy and for good reason I know what I pound in will take alot to get back out, if not I go with a longer stake. 1/2" rebar and prolines some I have been using since the 80's still holding coyotes. If not satisifed call OG and see if they will refund your money and let us know what they say.

Aaron, just a couple questions. How did you attach the cable to the spear? A loop and a double ferrule or just run the cable through and pound a stop on? I have yet to try one of these so I'm just brainstorming. I'll drive a couple in the yard tomorrow and see what's up. After reading this, I'm glad I decided to keep my Pogo's.

Terminator did he have a design change? As the picture OG sent me it looks like the dimple for the cable is centered more in the middle of the "spear"? I just see the size again if I'm correct in that he just photo copied an original then it looks to me that it would have a hard time getting a bite in many soils due to the size without wanting to just start to come out of the ground the same way it went in reguardless of the angle? If some one has a picture of what OG sent if you could post it I want to see if it differs from the photo copy he sent me? Also the ad does state it is not meant for "all" soil types and conditions whatever that means to you?
