mid way through loop 3, I'm about where I need to be numbers wise, so that's good. Could be in my best pure numbers line, certainly my farthest driving loop at 150 miles, running 69 traps at 31 locations. A fun loop, taking me into country that I knew well as a youngster but am only in now during this loop, at least on the backroads. pictures of coyotes are just pictures of coyotes, after a while they all blend together, so more and more am getting to where I'm just going to post the ones I like, or ones that show background, since that's what most want to see- so here are a few from loop 3, mid week I just think a pretty coyote this is a multi attraction location- you have the manure pile (which imo is next best to a dead pile) and next to that is a long dry pond (the taller grasses are edge) where dead go, and then over the hill, are the main paddocks & farm. the farmer is big into the youth deer hunts, and there are 4-5 deer carcasses scattered around, and also a pair of (Monday) dead new born calves in rough stuff behind the buildings- I need to set (more than legal but me) at least 50 feet away- so this location is it pic included because that skunk, is absolutely the fattest skunk I have ever seen- like a beach ball! doubles this year have been further apart- hers one that's fox type close- I get a fair amount this close, simply because many times options to set traps, are limited thus a good spot, gets 2 yea...2 fox in 2 days- first one I told Lori- don't know what they will bring- her comment- it brought a smile to our faces! and damn good point. not getting a lot of coon, setting zero for them- but all I am getting are 25+ and this one is a legitimate 35+ and would not surprise me is pushing that mythical 40 the last for today- the attractions, the stall out point

Great pics thanks for sharing. I'm trapping and doing plenty of skinning and making very little money the way things look. Got only a handful of coyotes that's where the money is. Good job.

hey paul, I was wondering how you were doing- are you doing any mink trapping, or staying with coon etc? I haven't seen anyone at any of the bridges I'm going by, and that includes Beaver area- light pressure cause usually I see guys parked by bridges first weeks or so. You getting any fox? heres day 2 at that stall out spot from yesterday with the barns, etc in background for that pic - the singleton yesterday was in top set, and angle for that pic was taken from left, standing on road heres another pix from today that I esp like-

I find it extremely interesting that your sets are so far off the lane's edges.

It's been too warm for me to get too excited. I normally sweat hard but with the steroids and the limitiing of the beta-blocker med I'm taking doesn't take much effort and I have sweat running off the end of my nose. I did start and set a few traps on a couple properties day before yesterday since there is a weather change coming. I set 3 traps on my one and only dairy farm in the north half of my Co. I lost "the SPOT" to the dozer last year so I moved to the "new SPOT" about 1/3 mile away. Now with the weather change I'll get serious. 1st check the traps were full with 2 coyotes and 1 red fox. This is a video, click to play Today a remake had another coyote. The set where I had the red was where 3 weeks ago I had mixed together all of my old partial lures and baits, drilled a full depth(whatever RK's auger length is) 3" hole straight down and threw a glob about 1/3 cup down the hole. I had to laugh when I showed-up to set those 3 traps because the hole, in hard clay ground wasn't dug, it was literally filled with coyote turds to overflowing! I needed to add to my bag of turds so I dug out all that were reachable and just set the hole. It was worth doing for the red!LOL

Granted I don't trap canines much anymore but it was cool to see those two reds bouncing around. They are my favorite animal. Kind of feel bad killing them in a way but don't think trappers play any part in their small numbers. Been mostly trapping rats and coon. Starting to put in some pockets for mink the last few days. Would probably prefer not to catch coon in the water right now. Wet muddy cheap coon ain't that much fun.

As Steve mentioned- "I'm just going to post the ones I like, or ones that show background" Here are two videos where I try to do just that by showing and explaining the background. Bear with me and maybe before this year is over I'll be making better videos with the GoPro. youtu.be/z3iWunuiI5kyoutu.be/kD2u4mgjuCE

Our Midwestern and eastern yotes sure are not the kind the limited market is looking for today but nice to see you able to harvest those critters. Some mud but your field roads are looking good. Not so firm over here and another 1nch on the way. Sure wish our coons had the color yours do. I have a very, very limited coon catch to date, only 6 and 3 have a ton of yellow and reddish brown in them that makes them D color which is not a good thing in any market let alone our current market.

Pulled yote sets for the deer hunting season, but have weasel line out to get new pelts for WTA fur displays. Little buggers are gutsy , sure glad they arent the size of yotes....LOL...

Here's a video I made today that shows a different terrian from the other two. I described this particular property some months ago in a thread that had to do with knocking-back the coyote numbers other then in spring. As you see me point at the end of the video, this property, which is all wooded as it extends for 3/4 mile and surrounds more or less a subdivision. It was that subdivision where the residents complained to the property owner of hearing(blatting & bleating) coyotes kill deer during summer nights. Regardless, this video isn't about previous posts or threads, I made it to show folks what my country looks like. I forgot the GoPro so I made this video with my IPhone. I suggest using your pc with a full screen to view the video instead of viewing on your phone. I hope you enjoy seeing my country and the variety of terrian. youtu.be/X-qQqRqAbqQ
