Read on another thread about mink in 220s. I saw a good solution to this this past weekend at the Wis show, and liked it so much I decided to become a dealer for the product.
They are a wooden pan kit for a 220 or 160. The pan replaces the trigger wires, and has a neat feature that is intended to 1) kill more coon and 2) allow you to take weasels.
The new pan bracket has an upturned angle, making the new pan sit at an angle- this 1) is hit by a coon/skunk with the chin, thus making most catches right behind the head and 2) weasels and mink will walk on the pan, but it won't fire until they reach the top edge that has very little pressure, and they trip the trap and get suitcased.
A good product and if interested, get ahold of me. I'll post pictures later.

are these pans intended for trail sets where the animal could be approching from either direction or just for cubby sets ?

with the angled pan, they are directional to a degree- an animal going through the trap will fire them either way, but the "bonus" features of a chin strike would be negated.

As soon as I can, I will. I need to dig out a 220, and then I can.

Before I get all excited about these pans I would like to talk to someone who has used them. Who is the person who Is producing these pans and what's his background as to trapping experience. I've seen these add ons before and haven't seen any worth the time to re do my traps with them.
If I want to trap weasels I will use traps and sets that are designed for weasels same goes for coon and mink. these pans might be the best thing since sliced bread but I'm a skeptic.

Mark Melby had some in his fur shop 2 years ago and looked like they where pretty slick, probibly same deal, but I wondered why not make out of durable sheet metal instead of wood? Tom Krause 1/4" hardware cloth ones always worked pretty good too if covered with grass

I was standing right there when Steve bought them.
They look like the cat's ass for weasels.
The guy who makes them is a good trapper and is also very big. ;D

RK- I was told they had tried metal pans for years, and were not happy with the results. The wood apparently makes the difference in the amount of weasels/mink taken.
beav- in areas with a lot of mink/wesals- they are welcome incidentals to coon boxes.
Rod Scott of northern MN is the maker of them.

Any pics yet Steve. A good friend of mine makes a 5x5 coni very nice trap BTW. With these 5x5 I got from him. He sent pans for them that he made just for these traps. They are metal pans. There meant to be set so the pan is on a 25-30 degree angle. MAybe a little less. I have yet to try them out but they sure look like they will work great in boxes for mink.

maybe the coldness of metal spooks them off.

Honestly RK,I dont think that weasel, mink, etc care for the *smoothness* of the metal.......glue a piece of 3/16 luan to those metal pans and they will produce. When I was younger I just stapled or glued a leather strap to a piece of wood to slip onto the wires and then bent the wires over it......that way I had cubby/box conis or water conis;whatever I needed at the time.

Isnt that where the bottom edge guy is from?cant think of his name....... Glad you relocated tho, your old area sucked.
Trapping woods is easy;dealing with the Blaze Orange Brigade wont be;stay in the water for a year or 2 ,scope the area out and find yourself a farm or two.
