TC becomes more rabid as the campaign wages on. Your comments are sinking into the nonsensical category more and more.
Trump is a racist- that's a fact. His words, his actions, and his friends prove that to be true.
and I'll say this- tread carefully here. I'm not going to put up with too much more Brietbach crap
Govt has proven to do a better job than private in: police, fire, schools, roads, crisis management (bet there are a lot of new socialists in LA lately) and God knows what happens to private industry when left unchecked.

Steve, I've gotta disagree with part of that.
I agree our public schools do a good job, I think they could do better. But then for the folks that can afford to send their kids to a private school, more than likely their kids will come out on top. As far as being accepted into higher education. Better SAT scores, etc. But that's for the "lucky few".
As far as our police force, I respect and admire them all, for the risks compared to what they're paid, they earn every cent, and more! I'll add this too, our local Board of Education hires a private outfit to provide security, at our local High School football games. Armed security. State police, Sheriff's officers and Town Police will all be there, at the games.
As far as our roads, I can't think of a single "major" project that the DOH has undertaken on their own, not in recent years anyway. Can't think of any major intersections or paving jobs, that the DOH has completed. Private contractors do about all of that stuff. From painting the lines on the highways, putting up guardrails, etc. It's all put out for bids.
Same thing with the town. If they need 50 feet of sidewalk poured, they'll hire a private contractor. Any type of major water or sewer line, it'll be completed by a contractor.
It's the same thing with our local railroad operation, it's owned by the WVRA. West Virginia Rail Authority. (might be railroad)? If they need more than 2 dozen ties replaced, they'll hire a contractor.
It's about the same with the US Postal Service. If the government is so effective, cost wise, and all, why is it that the US Postal Service is losing money? While companies like FedX and UPS are making money?
Talking about these road jobs, the state will hire folks to flag traffic, drive the pilot trucks and all, the whole deal is finished by contractors.

The main reason that private firms are doing most of the road work in WI is due to the fact that many counties and the state have had hiring and wage freezes and also reductions in staff so there is not the manpower to do the repair or construction and most of the equipment is now aging as well. We have had many complaints regarding the quality of many projects and yes one advantage of hiring private firms is you can sue them easier than public officials and one can withhold funds easier as well. That is how much of the private sector to private sector works from what I find out talking with many that own businesses in the private sector. Many almost never pay the full contract costs and because that is known then deadlines get extended as well. The last report regarding prison has shown that private prisons result in higher per resident cost, with poorer safety for all involved among other deficiencies. Another reason many public entities contract out work is due to the fact that many projects do not require full time employees and it would be not cost effective to have staff just for specific projects. Just look at all the seasonal private contractors that are trappers during the off season, so many of them are not fully employed year round.

I'd say that's pretty much the same nationwide. That's part of my point, the government can't do anything as cheaply or to the same quality standards as the experts. Private industry.
If you need a bridge crew, you hire the pros.
If you need a paving crew, ditto.
Think about this: Just imagine what the Red Cross could accomplish, if they'd have just half of FEMA's budget.
Just my opinion, there are very very few areas, where government can compete with the private sector. And do the same job at the same quality, for less cost. I mean Federal, state and local.
Our local school system has a fleet of vehicles, who knows how many "maintenance folks" and they hire a contractor to mow the grass! I assume that the maintenance guys, are doing the same thing as many of our other government employees are doing, standing around scratching their butt.
Big government is wasteful!

Rabid how? LOL.
Trump,is a racist easy enough to say, that mean and ugly word all FEAR "RACIST" . Again if he was the KKK why does he have people of many walks of life working for him? A lady that runs one of his charities is a woman of color. If you mean he is racist because he wants to build a wall or entertain that idea that is not racist IMO.
Again in FACT who are the people of oppression? The left has been telling minorities for years vote for us things will get better, we are the group of hope and change, well in 20-30 years where is the results of hope and change? The programs implemented are not about change what so ever in the inner cities, Chicago will have the largest death toll on record by years end, yet the state of Illinois and Chicago has been run by the left for decades and decades. Detroit the same way. If the left has the answers at the local, state and federal level where is all the change for the better? The Indian reservations have voted democrat at every single level for decades and decades where is the change ? It does not exsist and why? We all know the answer to that question. Class war fare and race baiting is the montra of the left. It has and can be proven.
The govt does very little roads Tman as mentioned all are subcontracted out to private companies who have the equipment and man power to do such.
There are public and private schools people have a choice. As it should be. Each state has different regulations when it comes to schools.

My wife was a Red Cross volunteer for a decade and quit in disgust of the politics and waste she witnessed when travelling and working on two hurricane assistance volunteer trips. Sure FEMA has some waste it is always easy to blame government for their inefficiencies, yet few want to call out the private groups for their errors. I quit donating my blood to them decades ago and went to the blood center when I found out that in many cases common types like mine got too old and they just tossed them out. Now I give a triple unit of platelets monthly and they are glad to get and utilize those donations.

Just imagine how your wife would have felt after volunteering 10 years of service to FEMA. Seeing the big-wheels making big money, and her donating her time for free.
Sounds like you're wife is tired of politics too!

"Just imagine what the Red Cross could accomplish, if they'd have just half of FEMA's budget. " I DO volunteer for Red Cross and have been on 4 deployments since January. Floods in OK, floods in LA, wildfires in CA and a flood in the Chicago area. I'd be in LA again right now if I didn't have the WTA convention coming up. Sorry your wife had such a bad experience Bryce. I don't care about the "politics", all I know is that I've worked with some wonderful volunteers from all over the country and I can't tell you how much affected people appreciate seeing Red Cross workers when they are in dire straits. It's great for them just to know that someone cares about their situation. Volunteers give out lots of hugs. Things are not always as organized as they could be, but then it's always a disaster situation. One needs to be very flexible and fairly easy going to be a Red Cross volunteer. In the end things work out. Red Cross and FEMA do two entirely different things. Red Cross(which functions on corporate and individual donations) does immediate financial assistance for the first few days, they also provide transport for food supplied by other groups in their ERV's and give out snacks, water and cleaning equipment. They set up and maintain shelters as long as needed. They have mental health workers and nurses as volunteers on each deployment as well. Red Cross also does local assistance for things like house fires and works closely with area Fire Departments who request them to come to a scene. Red Cross has about 99% volunteers working in a disaster region. FEMA provides long term assistance for those who have been completely displaced from their businesses, homes and jobs. Not all things the people involved would consider disasters are bad enough that FEMA gets involved. FEMA does not use volunteers but hires full time workers who often travel in groups and temporary workers in local areas. FEMA does a lot of things: www.fema.gov/grants-assistance-programs-individuals# Working for FEMA is a great opportunity for college kids or especially kids who don't know what they want to do after high school. Red Cross is always happy to have my blood, I'm A negative which is fairly rare. It makes sense to me that they throw a certain amount of blood out if the need for it isn't there when I donate. They do call me (and my A- daughter) once in awhile when there is a special need. I like that I know for certain tests for many things are done on it. You may still be having some of your donations not used either Bryce since blood components are limited in how long anyone can store them. Storage: When test results are received, units suitable for transfusion are labeled and stored Red Cells are stored in refrigerators at 6ÂșC for up to 42 days Platelets are stored at room temperature in agitators for up to five days - Storage at room temperature is limited to 5 days because of the risk of bacterial growth and loss of platelet functionality. Platelet refrigeration remains impossible, because once chilled, platelets are rapidly removed from circulation. Plasma and cryo are frozen and stored in freezers for up to one year Cheers, Pam

As far as I can find Trump has only one charitable foundation and he doesn't contribute all that much compared to his stated wealth. newsexaminer.net/politics/donald-trump-the-least-charitable-billionaire/I find it laughable that the Repubs are going after the Clinton Foundation. I find your posting that Clinton is the savior for people with there foundation laughable. Did you know Trump actually gave the Clinton foundation. 100,000 dollars . The Clinton foundation has a 12 percent over head cost as well. Not bad but there are better. The effectivness of their foundation is very hard to compute with doing things in house mainly as well.
The donors are very suspect though that cannot be denied,

Little do you know, the high level Red Cross admin staff have very high salaries and we do volunteer for some of our local government level events. I doubt that FEMA is that much worse than others. Being a federally run and managed program it will have more regulation and rules than most as does the military, but we don't hear too many people complain too much about military funding etc. or the abuse and exacting life threating habits many of our military take part in routinely. I guess it all boils down to those programs that serve areas that some don't feel should be done or they don't like the citizens that are being served. www.glassdoor.com/Salary/American-Red-Cross-Salaries-E2707.htmwww.glassdoor.com/Salary/FEMA-Salaries-E41316.htmGlassDoor site that shows some FEMA and Red Cross salary informaiton Bryce

So you can add the word "humble" to the "interesting."

Well, thanks for your service Pam. Proud of you!
I've read about different organizations, and the percentage of donations that go "toward the cause", correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Red Cross, is one of the most effective. As far as sending, and spending money where it's needed most.
Some of these other charity outfits, seems like 50 cents on the dollar are paid (wasted) on management.
I understand that a certain amount of money needs to be spent, to be organized and all. And I understand that it's difficult to be "organized" in a disaster zone!
Just thinking about the folks that work for FEMA, what do they do when there's nothing to do? I have no idea what the annual budget is? Or how many hundreds or thousands of folks are employed? But, I'm sure it's like every other government operation, there are tons of red tape, and waste!

"....FEMA, what do they do when there's nothing to do?"
If you look at the news every day, you can see that between fires, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes all around the country there is really very little down time for FEMA employees. When there is, I'd imagine time is spent recruiting, training, restocking and updating systems and procedures. Pretty much the same for American Red Cross, plus continual fund raising.
Like I said, I don't really care about the politics of it. I would suggest that anyone working for a non-profit could make more money and have better benefits in a for profit organization. I just enjoy volunteering and feel that on a one to one basis I'm making someone's day a little bit better, not to mention it satisfies my need for a bit of an adrenaline rush now and then. LOL Cheers, Pam

I did know that, hadn't he investigated them thoroughly before he gave them money? I wonder what he wanted from them? Oh,I know, they had to go to his wedding. lol
The Clinton's don't make any money from their foundation, I don't think Trump has ever done anything that he didn't get something back out of personally.

You should care about the politics of the Red Cross as it leads to corruption lots of times.

You should care about the politics of the Red Cross as it leads to corruption lots of times. That depends. If you are giving wads of cash ... maybe. If you are giving your time and heart ....no. As Pam wrote, doing so makes a difference in the day to day life of those in need. There is no corruption there and such actions are commendable.

You throw around these accusations but you never show any sort of references for them.
"the available data indicates that the Clinton Foundation is a top-tier institution in the philanthropic world, according to Charity Watch president Daniel Borochoff, who also says the foreign fundraising criticisms made about the organization could be applied to any number of international charities. "
No good deeds go unpunished it seems.

Corruption happens all the time from PTO's to Little League, to Scouting, to banking, to investing, to churches. I choose not to worry about it when I know something benefits many people in spite of it.
