Who else is excited for opening day tomorrow of a new baseball season? looking forward to the new additions the cardinals added and will be taking my family to 3 games this year. I think the cardinals will be tough once again. Good starting rotation and great on base hitters and the best catcher in the game. Should be a good year again for the red birds. The dodgers should be good but they better with that payroll LOL.

Yeh the latest I hear is schurzer is looking to come back home he played at U of Missouri and is from St Louis so some are saying he turned down the tigers big offer to come back home to play! Could you imagine if the cardinals could add him to the starting rotation next year? We might just be there with the tigers rotation if that could happen. The nice thing is the cards will not over pay and don't have to because people just like playing in St Louis and many do so at a discounted price, that is refreshing to see in the sports world. The tigers could be tough again and win the central for sure! I have the throw back jersey the card wore last year the creme colored one named best jersey in sports last year from ESPN and has the 6 Musial patch on it, I think this is the best jersey ever done in any sport. had to have a regulation one with all the nice stitching done up right, wife got it for me for Christmas. Ebay saved me a few bucks.

I reported to St. Louis in 1960 for my first job out of Mizzou with the FDA. I had the afternoon free so I attended a Cardinals game. I got to see Stan Musial, Joe Cunningham, Curt Flood, Ken Boyer, Bob Gibson, Vinegar Bend Mizell, et al. I can't remember who they were playing, but I recall that I payed two bucks for a grandstand seat.

Awsome jar head would have loved to see Gibson and Musial play in person!
the cool thing is last summer I got tickets to watch the red birds against the marlins and paid 10.80 per ticket and that came with a free hot dog and pop coupon direct from Busch stadium ticket office. This year the most expensive tickets I bought the family cost me 24.00 per seat. That is when the cardinals play the royals in Kansas City.
The other games at Busch are less than that! They draw 3.3 million per year and tickets still are reasonable. My boy is a member of cardinals kids club and he will get a free autograph session this fall at Busch and we also got two free tickets to a mon- Thursday game for him being a member.
baseball still a good value in a market that keeps hiking cost.

You're right tc, especially compared to the NFL, gas, groceries, etc

I'm a fan as well- Twins added enough decent pitching to vastly improve, but runs have been tuff to come by-
but the AL Central is a weak division- who knows what can happen

Tigers beat the Royals today 4-3. Just by coincidence I had today off because of starting a swing shift and was able to watch the game. Spring is finally here!

Eh, watching baseball is like watching grass grow to me. The only Brewer's game we ever went to was 0-0 in the bottom of the 9th. They lost by 1 run. lol Fun to play but not to watch.
Enjoy the season, Pam

Pam some games are pitching duals and at times that can be fun to see and other times they are high scoring games most fall in that 4-7 runs per game type. Everyone likes to see a lot of offense in many sports but baseball and hockey are two that you just don't have a lot of scoring generally doesn't make it boring plenty of things going on inside the score. Pam the problem is you went to a brew crew game that was your first mistake If football only counted a field goal as .5 point and a TD as a single PT then people would say the same thing LOL. They just use a higher number system for scoring. many NFl games end up low scoring as well? The cards won opening day a great game with the reds came down to the last inning and dominant pitching by rosenthal gave the cards the 1-0 win.

One has to remember the skill sets needed for a career in BB. A person who makes outs 70% of the time when hitting over 20 years are Hall of Fame Material! Being able to hit a 2.75 inch round ball with a 2-3 inch round bat coming at 96 mph or breaking over a foot takes much more skill than many can even imagine. Then at least in the NL you need to be able to field, throw and run bases and make up for a great pitcher who bats around .140. Good game with lots of strategy. My first major league game was in 1963 and we saw the Cubs play the Giants. Lots of great stars in that game as well. Will be rooting for our Brew Crew again this year. Braun sure stained his record but we got a good young catcher in Lucroy and our shortstop is darn good too.

Bryce Braun should have stained his record, but by the sounds of the crowd all they want in Wisconsin is a winner. They didn't boo him they cheered him at his first at bat. I don't cheer for cheaters but that is me. Sadly our society wants winners and will look the other way as long as the cheater is on a different team then they will ridicule them . The brew crew has a lot of work ahead of them they will finish ahead of the cubs but will be 4th in the central. The cards, pirates and reds will finish again in the top 3 I feel. My first game was a brewers game as well and then comiskey park in Chicago as a young kid. But neither team did much for me until I started listening to the red birds. Keith Hernandez and Lou Brock and Gary Templeton even though they were not that good at that time. The energy and excitement at Busch memorial stadium.

Twins starting to get some offense, and if they come away from this road trip 3-3 I'll not complain.

Tman are you settling in for a 500 year from the twinkies ? LOL I want at least .650 or higher win percentage from the red birds. Anything less will be under achieving from their group. The royals fans have been diehards but they get excited about the royals ending up 10 games above .500 LOL. Been a long road for them but this year they just might make the playoffs. Kansas City needs them to make the playoffs been along road since their last playoff birth. You have a state divided here as one team clearly outshines the other and the fan bases really don't like each other LOL. easier for the cardinals fans to handle it though

.500 from this first 6 game road trip TC- I have no illusions this will last, but its good to see run production
btw- the Twins are leading the majors in runs scored, and Colabello is leading the AL in rbis-

Early on for sure. I don't mind the twins for an American League team. The cards won their home opener today against the reds overall looking better each game. Wacha was awsome again today pitching. To see how young the cards pitching is and how well they have done since mid summer last year? Wow they will have great talent for many years to come. Rosenthal was off closing today and closer than the game should have been but overall he is a dominate closer at his age.
Once the bats start coming more alive I look for a good year again from the red birds, provided those arms stay healthy. matheny is really smart as a manager and I see him watching innings pitched with a loaded pitching roster. he has the ability to switch and change to keep arms fresh as the season wears on. I wish they would drop about 30 games but money is money LOL.
Should be another fun year ahead. I like that the players have gotten on board with much harsher PED penalties. Sure we might see less HR guys and such but no room for drugs in sports. Even if it seems to make the game more exciting.
