Who uses these 2 lures on coon lines? Or your favorite go to coon lure? My all time favorite was Victors coon lure but can't find it anymore. How about hard core and ultimate?

Went through one oz of hardcore...and didn't like the results, place and time I used it. Millegans Coon Creek has been my best producer thus far...but many I haven't tried.

Hardcore works year round for me. I have no complaints. It is about the only lure I use anymore.

A combo of molasses, anise oil and castor is the short distance lure I like best. Carmen's canine call brings the rest. 2 seasons ago I had run out of all lure except for some bobcat gland lure from a local guy Paul Pollick. Holy man did that stuff ever work on coon!! And fox.

2 seasons ago I had run out of all lure except for some bobcat gland lure from a local guy Paul Pollick. Holy man did that stuff ever work on coon!! And fox. Bobcat gland lure. IMO, one of the best kept secrets. A lure maker by the name of Don Seymour here in WI made several different lures, including bobcat gland lure. Met him back in the 80s at the WTA rondy and took notes. Urged me to try his bobcat gland lure for fox. I was still land trapping some back then, and used it on a Q-tip at the lip of dirt holes, and started picking up mink, especially those sets up along the ridge of drainage ditches. I've continued to use bobcat gland lure on the waterline, and have noticed a higher incidence of buck mink to females with this lure. On a side note, talking about different 'coon lures, several years ago I had a trapper ed class of ambitious young fellas who each received a bottle of lure from our small trapline supply business. One of 'em received a bottle of Grawe's Gray Ghost. A lure I had ordered in small quantities, never tried, and sold very little of. Thought it would be a good time to discontinue the lure and reduce stock with the freebies. Anyway, student was telling me how he was using this at water's edge in late November, early December at the lip of pocket sets, again with the Q-tip, and really doing well with 'coon. Hmmmm . . . . was running the river into late December that year, prior to these last couple of "used to be typical" winters, and integrated this lure into my pockets. Bingo. Mink and 'coon. Now I use it on the winter line in water. Gives off a good scent, very different. FWIW. Sidenote: Don Seymour usually made a visit down to the Baraboo Rendezvous held Labor Day weekend every year. Always stopped to talk trapping. Didn't see him this year.

hardcore is a top notch coon lure- used it by the pint for years- its downfall: in cold weather it shuts down.
quite honestly, since ProCoon I haven't used a drop

Have not tried procoon so I can not compare. I will take your word for it though since I know you know about cold weather coon trapping. Do you think there is any way to spike up hardcore for winter use? A little shot of schnapps or brandy always warms me up on a cold winter day. LOL

for coon bait I ad spearmint in winter. Just enough to give it a tingle. maybe a few drops is all.

A little spearmint (schnapps) always works for me in the winter too. I digress, sorry.

Thanks for 15.00 per 4oz I wil get some hard core and some of Mirandas ringtails choice, I forgot about that one! I remember years back this was a good one too. I think the kids will have a blast! I have some castor and fish oil and anise mixed up already.
I think we will start around the 20th of October or so.

When I use coon specific lures like those I add them to fish oil. I like to be able to squirt and go. Tried many of the lures mentioned here, they caught coon. My number one attractor for coon is bait.

I like doing the same w//fishoil WB-
I never tried spiking it up, but I am sure you could. I temps above 30, I found it to really carry- I like smelling coon lure a fair bit from the set- but at temps much below that, it seemed to shut down. You would have to stick your nose right into the set to smell it at all, and its MHO that you need to overpower a coon with lure. the old adage is use 1/2 the amount of lure you think you need for canines, but i like to add to that use 2xs as much as you think you need for coon- it pays off. It was still liquid, but just didn't have the punch.
something with alcohol in it would get it airborne I'd think-

Does anyone know anybody that's used the Procoon to attract bears?

Does anyone know anybody that's used the Procoon to attract bears? Wasn't targeting them but they like it. they eat small traps for lunch and that's fine with me.
The fish oil mix freezes up when real cold. BUT, our seasons here are not same as others so they trap different than me.
We talked on this before and I enjoyed that, and this. And yes the PC froze up too
Someone said about -20, if that cold, plain dry dirt works here, but everywhere is not like "here".

marty- I sell a TON of procoon to the bear folks here in MN and elswhere- got a bunch of local guys that buy it year after year and have been since it came out- they will not bait without it.
WB- if you had procoon that froze up, then I'm shocked and baffled- I've NEVER had it freeze as a liquid and thats at extreme temps and in many freezer tests. At 25 below, its still a liquid- a cloudy liquid, but a good pourable, shakeable liquid.
