Chris, interesting that 5 grains in bullet weight with the exact same jacket construction gives you 2 totally different results?
I like the hunting bullets better because they have a tapered jacket that allows rapid but more controlled exspansion better than the thinner and uniform top to bottom of the Nosler Varmint bullets.

Probably a combination of the 5 grains and backing off the gas a bit.. Ive shot the 55's in my 250 also and they performed great in it too.
Never tried the Noz hunting bullets in Ol' Quigly. Just cant see any reason to mess with what works.
Had a friend give me three boxes of the old 50 solid base Nozlers a few weeks ago cause he had no use for them. Almost kissed him! lol

chris maybe might look at the new Hornady 50 grain Gmax bullet, no matter how fast you push that your not going to have it seperate! All gilding metal make up!
I loaded those in a friends .308 and they are a deer killing machine and very accurate. Super reliable performance for sure.

I have a Winchester model 70 in the 22-250 top with a Leopold vx2 3x9 and I love this gun. I shot Remington 55gr psp and it makes for easy on the hide skinning. And if you want to use it for deer ,antelope or cougar you can it is legal for them. In Oregon anyway.
