Here in Missouri we're seeing an increase in the lion population. How they got here.....who knows but the sightings have been increasing for the past 10 years.Females have been seen with kittens so apparently the numbers have increased to the level of reproducing to some level. I know NOTHING about mountain lion. You guys out in lion country, what effects have you seen on bobcat population levels with the presence of lions Thanks for any answers.

"If" you get a larger population on lions then, yes they will adversely affect the bobcats. As thin as the population is here in Missouri the impact will not be noticable on bobcats.

Lions are at the top of the food chain. As they increase, EVERYTHING else will decrease. With maybe the exception of yuppies.

That was my guess on the lion vs 'cat.I figured it would be excatly like the coyote moves in........the red fox moves out.

AR Game and Fish say that we don't have any of the big cats, but yet there is a law against killing them. Guess next they will pass a law against killing Big Foot! I know we have them. I have seen one and so have some other people I know.

I'd say habitat is a big factor. We have high densities of both lions and bobcats but we have the habitat and prey base to support them.
Probably more lions within a 20 mile radius of where I'm sitting than in all of MO.

I think bobcats and red fox ignore each other for the most part. chick, what you saw was probably rich kaspar streaking across a road in the headlights. the resembence to that clip of the bigfoot in california is striking.

I know a few people who have seen big cats in the state of N.y. I have never seen one, but I sure know a big cat track when I see one. Saw several FRESH tracks in a log road last fall, But according to ny dec, they don't exist in this state. The people that saw these cats are NOT bs'ers. That much I do know

Not what you want to see in a bobcat trap. This was an 86 lb female found dead in the trap last Jan. I have found bobcats the same way when they get tangled over a branch. I have a permit to take a lion on my hunting license but turned it in cause it wasn't taken hunting.

Yeah but I wonder if it is impaired circulation or something like that. Lymph glands?
They seem to be fine when on the ground.

tie a rope around anything and hoist yourself up and hang by it. you`ll be crying in 20 minutes, moaning in 30 and wimpering in 40, stone silent in 60. stay there overnight and you are dead.
