well i got one this year reasonable, it came with a scope mount and a large scope. I could not get satisfactory results at one hundred and thought it was me . I was thinking i needed to get back to it for summer chucking is right around the corner. well i put the scope on a 98 mauser conversion (7 mm mag.) and it is a great outfit. shoots great groups at 200. (for me anyways) so i know it wasn't the scope apparently it could be the gun. One reason i got the gun was my brother has a ranch rifle (7.62 x 39) and it shoots 1.25 groups at 100 yards which would be good enough for me if i could get the 14 to shoot that, but i don't think i can. Even with reloads it is only in the 8 inch area, and for a scoped rifle that is poor.

Many of us have been there..........chit,8 inches with a 14 is pretty much a sniper-class 14......
Just so you dont feel like the lone ranger,I bought a used wingmaster 870(the real one,not the express)and after missing a few woodcock and partridge I sighted on a box,not one pellet......bigger box,a few in the lower left corner.End result,at 25 yds it shot 2 feet low and a foot left............and I was out 85 bucks.

I never liked the looks of the AR's, but talked myself into buying one last summer. Its a 20" Bull-barrelled RRA upper on a Stag Arms lower with a Burris 4-16X44 scope on it. I have loved shooting it. Ive shot everything from 36gr. Barnes to 55gr. Hdy, and it likes them all. For all out accuracy...itd be hard to beat.

okay, that's good enough. I thought it was my imagination or something? The whole point of these boards is to read what others think and express one's opinion. I don't like arbitrary censorship, and I am greatly offended. I won't be back. LB

AR-1299+good scope 250=1549.00 rem 700 223 459+good scope 250=709.00 diff= $849.00. That buys alot of fuel to go enjoy the new rifle.

I thought that is what the A stood for in AR?

WellRandy you get a gold star for today.
The AR comments are several years old and not getting any fresher;but I will summarize;
Some people(usually left wingers)hate AR-style rifles and want everyone else to hate them too.Even give them snappy names like"the BLACK guns"....constantly downplay the NEED for an AR style gun........my point has ever and only been:
1)AR guns are accurate,reliable and fun.[My opinion only,agreement not required or even recommended]
2)They are not beautiful,they are HEAVY,and unfortunately they intimidate some people,or maybe just offend their delicate sensibilities,dont know,dont care.[Again,opinion]
However,if someone wants one,they should get one.Chit,buy 2,one just to throw rocks at.

Maybe Romans117 will chime in,I think he just picked up an AR for a pretty fair price. Sorry it took so long Edge. I have a bushmaster carbine and did have some trouble getting good groups but resolved the problem by putting a new scope on it and love it. I thought hard about the new Mini 14. I have shot one mini 14 and it was very accurate at 200 yards with a good scope. I was surprised how accurate. My brother has a Olympic Arms AR and really likes the accuracy. The AR does take getting use to after shooting a regular hunting rifle. It just feels different for awhile. The mechanics are different. My 2 cents.

I have an ar15 (bushmaster) and I would not trade it for any other rifle. The mini 14 is not even close to the same rifle. I have a custom made scope by Leupold for My AR with yardage and windage dots. ( the scope is as much as the rifle) I also have a trigger replacement on it. Allot of money but well worth it in the long run. I use this rifle in My job and it is the best rifle I have fired, and is very accurate. I have made consistant shot to 400 yards with factory loads. It is a purchase of a lifetime, and will last a lifetime if taken of..

I'd buy two. One to bury and one to dig the hole with! Just foolin, I love all firearms. AR's aren't my thing but as a gun owner I support and defend their ownership and use at any and all points.

In the eighties since trappin season opened up Nov 24 th. About half with the call and guns and about half with the cages. Most with the .19 Badger and ten or so with the old Mach IV. Was hoping to break 100 for the first time this year as I am running the cages with a partner but the cats are few and far between this year due to the drought in my area. Only a couple more days left of season here. Tried to put up some pictures the other day but it's been so long I can't remember how to do it. I click on the little picture above but I can't remember how to insert the pic.

Edge- in the eighties as in eighty some cats. Weather has been dynamic this season. Low teens at night for a spell, then barely in the thirties, then rain then snow then wind then cold then warm again.
