I have 6 oz. of CLEAN fresh cat glands. Ground, mostly anal, but some bladder 80/20. I know what I would do with them but i want to learn something different. Any suggestions? ??

JWR 64, You need to get these ground while they are still fresh.
Since you are grinding a small amount to keep from loosing to much in the grinder, grind your belly fat and gall bladders last (or any other filler like foot pads, ear glands ect). this will help push through all of your anal glands so you do not loose any of the GOOD stuff. Then rinse out your grinder with a small amount of clean bobcat urine that you add to your lure.

I do not own one yet...but I am itching to try one of those devices that they use to puree meats for baby food. Should be the ticket for cat and canine glands where you don't want to waste a drop.

this might sound gay, but what about one of them little mini food dicers? for small time operation, not a big lure maker operation.

I bought a cheap one but it did not seal tight at the top. I tried to powder dried castor and had castor dust everywhere.
I looked online for a "baby food maker" but can't find one. I know I saw one somewhere though...

osterizers and food grinders just won`t hold up at all. they`ll seize and burn up, gum up. blah blah. too much stringy stuff in glands.

I have a buddy that adapted a 1/2 inch variable speed drill to his hand grinder, it works very well. Fat, tallow and tendons no problem.

What kind of grinders are you useing? I'm not sure, Had a friend do it while I was gone. I put them back in the freezer about a hour after he finished. Looked almost like a paste to me.

JWR64, So now what are you going to do with them?
Did you add any gall bladders or fluid to your glands?

I've got a pint of fresh grinded cat glands myself and they smell so much like a cat's azz I am gonna try some as is. I do plan on mixing some up with some rat glands, mink glands, castor, and a couple other ingredients.

Blenders and food processors just can't take it.
You guys grind them thawed, frozen, or dried?

I don't like messing with dried glands.

TG, If I were you and I'm not, I would hesitate about adding the beaver castor to the cat glands. You can always use a castor based lure at the set in conjunction with the gland lure.
You have some valuable glands/ lure be careful not to ruin it.
Just my .02 worth.

exactly my thoughts, why ruin scarce real anals, that basically no one will sell you. but they all will sell you caster /skunk/mink etc out the wazoo. id grind your analsand a double fistfull of belly fat, a coupler galls and let is sit covered in CONDENSED pee. either freeze the pee out or just evaporate it. then I`d add some skunk oil to get the consistency you want and fix it so it stays that way with a preservative.

Yes, the skunk oil you got from him.
Just don't forget the MAGIC ingredient is the gall bladers! The belly fat and skunk oil will all seperate out if you do not add the gall bladders or fluid from them.
I would also be carefull about how much aging or tainting you do...Several on here will argue with this but...It is my oipinion that you will loose a lot of odor by letting things break down to far.
