i tap mine on the nose, give them a chunk and then one more hard whack at the back of the skull. they never feel a thing and are grave yard tagged on the toe dead most every time. some require 2 back of the skull cracks. i dont have much blood to clean up at the set and it saves much time as i never seem to ever have any time then.
what`s your method?

Stare it to death ;D
.22 to the head, hose it off when I get home, to get all blood and dirt out of the fur.

lol@ Edge
22 caliber for everything but small animals. I use cervical dislocation for them.
No worries about blood, I wash all of my furs anyhow. I just got the wringer on my wringer/washer fixed and I can't wait to use it.

Seriously,if I am staked, they get one end or the other of the shileleagh. If I am tracking grapples,22lr lengthwise between the eyes.
I will carry a shotgun if a hard freeze comes early(before I have the heavy iron out)it seems the last minute escapees always come after an early hard freeze.

boys this is brieze (matts girlfriend). i`ll tell you a trapped coyote story about last season. well matt takes me out to see how it`s done .so we drive up into lbl.so he starts explaining about the traps.he shows me this coyote laying in a trap in the field of snow.he explains that he believes that scott woods has killed the coyote for him.due to footprints in the snow.he gets outta the truck and starts out across the field.i looked away for a brief moment and then back.here is matt holding this coyote by the hind legs.this is the wildest thing i have ever seen.matt is slinging the coyote way up over his head and slamming it into the ground.i am wondering why he is playing ring around the roses with the coyote.
he starts back to the truck dragging the coyote by his hind leg.throws him into the bed of the truck.gets in ,he has the most bewildered look and just kinda sighs.i asked him if that was how u kill coyotes?he reply is no he really thought it was dead .so it seems it was just cold and sleeping.
we drive on down the road and he the most awful noise.so matt pulls over and getts out again ,walks around to the bed again he gets the coyote out and he whacks it .and just to make sure the other one is dead he takes it out and takes care of it also.
well i tell you that is the wildest how to kill a coyote i have ever witnessed.
matt dancing in the snow with the coyote that wouldn`t die,,lol

Those lazarus yotes can be a pain............but I am glad you are here to keep Matt on the straight and narrow. If there is any dish you can give me on Matt,I could use it for leverage on getting a discount on his videos.........I am sure he'll forgive ya!

well she had to type that.
i thought scott shot it and never gave it a second thought till i turned it out of the trap to re-make the set. about the time i got it out it lifted it`s head and looked at me. it was 6 degrees out that morningf and the yote was just cold. kinda a weard situation to say the least. anyway i got it dead, but it was him or me for a minute there.
i just shot the rest of them that morning as this happened just after good light.

brieze again.. forgot about the coon in the trash.
matt takes the trash out ,the lid was left open.he calls me out there pecking on the window,so i go outside .he tells me to look in the trash.i was thinking what now?so there is the cutest little coon laying there helpless.heck i thought he whacked it also.he reaches in and grabbs it by the neck of course it is hissing and peeing all over itself and matt.he lets it go and tells it to go find its moma.
u wanna get a trapper grow tomates in the backyard and let something get the ripe tomatoes.it will drive them crazy.trash in the yard is not as bad as a tomato thief.

one more before i get in trouble. matt had sugar ( the nuts coyote) in a pen in the backyard. len, matts sometimes trapping partner.would howl at sugar and she would just go crazy ..so while i was at work or not visiting they would bring sugar in the house.they treated her really well.she hid hotdogs in the couch and would just shred whatever she could get ahold of .so it seems one evening while i was at work they decide to have a few drinks.the only female present was the coyote.so what do they do they allow sugar to drink my tequilla, jose no less.so i come over awhile later after she is put up.not only were the 2 of them drunk.me thinking these 2 men drank my tequilla.the house a wrecked .i was not believing what i saw.they kept telling me sugar drank it .i didn`t no way believe that a coyote would drink liquor nor get wasted.so matt hands me the bottle and she sure enough had gotten it.teeth marks all over it.len tells me she would not give it up .they tried to retrive my tequilla before she got it open(sure like i really truelly believe that).so matt takes me out to the pen sure enough there is the tequilla drinking coyote drunk as a skunk.needless to say i finally got to pet sugar the one and only time..she was drunk.
never leave your tequilla around matt or len or sugar.

I suppose I could tell a story now, but I really don't like them repeated to the game commission during public in-put trying to ban trapping. Last meeting i heard how the trash animals are killed and thrown in the ditches...quoted from a trapping forum. I know I know this is a regulated site...but...

**needless to say i finally got to pet sugar the one and only time..she was drunk.**
Except for the name and a few other changes.....I believe this is a universal truth.
I was fortunate enough to hear a couple "sugar" stories;I bet there are a million. And FWIW,it does not surprise me a bit that,if given the opportunity, yotes drink cuervo;I would expect nothing less.
