CD, I use the center locators on DLS traps(#4);there is no need for a baseplate as the bases are strong, but the locators are faster than drilling holes.

The big longsprings seem to be what most of the fellas use them for.

No arguement from me Zags on the need you might have for 4 coiling in the conditions you stated. I still won't use them, as I will try to remedy that situation other ways. But I think, your point is well taken and a good way to handle that problem.

MUSIC WIRE SPRINGS WON'T FIT!?!?!?! That is a problem. A major problem. I might have to rethink buying Montanas. ZZZZZZZZZZ Post that on Trapperman and see what Johnny G. has to say. Maybe they can fix it.

will have to laminate and base plate what is usually used for base plating.
bridger no #3 traps 4 coiled 259.00 cana doz getting laminated and base plated and adding swivel and shock spring to chain i guess another 5 to 10 dollars a trap ,pain in butt. after practicing sets all summer and waiting for fall then seeing coyote in trap. priceless

If I were "fur trapping" for coyotes I would be using a 4 coiled #3 coil spring It would be base plated because of the 4 coiling. And I would forego the lamination.
