I like circe for a handheld.
Actually I like an elk diaphram, you don't need to move your hands and you can make a lot of different sounds from rabbits, to coyote barks and more.

Distrres calls, circe,Jack or woodpecker;or the syco tweety;dont remember who makes it.Same company makes "thumper",good call.
howlers: critter call pee-wee,song dog and magnum
Primos has some decemt stuff, lil dog(2 calls)and hot dog;a realy loud howler.
Once yhou get decent with the open reed calls, you can make all the sounds you need on a reed or 2.

In addition to those mentioned above, I like the E.L.K. Howler and Power Howler. Both provide very good howling sounds.

Take a look at the following page for an open reed call, the Dakota Coyote Howler: www.sdsnake.com/coyote.htmCheck with Wiley for his thoughts on these open reed calls. DON'T WAIT you must have one of these calls! Depending on the callers ability and experience, this call can produce a variety of sounds with AMAZING volume, horns or amplifiers not needed. The caller can produce sounds such as the coyote howls, rabbit in distress, deer in distress bleats, bird screeches, and canine distress calls with this call. Various howls blown with this call will have the coyotes coming to challenge the other coyote that has invaded their territory. The calls will cost $10@ plus $3 shipping or two calls for $23 with shipping by USPS First Class Mail. The following white call has an outside diameter just over 3/4 inch and I also have a gray call that has a 5/8 inch outside diameter.

I use custom calls from Predator Masters call makers. I have several different calls from different ones and they are all good. Whoever you get calls from it takes practice.

I also buy from R&R. Rick makes the best calls I have tried. And I have bought hundreds over the years. He is a great guy, and one hell of a caller.
