I'm just curious when are all these BMP process going to be done or in writing so we can be done and move on with trapping. Or will it ever end.

Conibear these are living documents subject to change as technology changes, their will be periods of time were nothing new will come down the pike and things will stay the "same" but if something new and warrants testing it will be tested in the future provided funding is there to keep this going forward for years to come.

These processes have been going on for decades before the BMP process ever started. The players are changing and more room was needed at the table. Some have decided to not dine any more. Let us hope that we do well on our limited rations.
Conibear you state that when will the process end so you can trap. No one has stopped trapping during the process except those in states that have lost political battles. Nothing, absolutely nothing exists or occurs in a vacuum. Like it or not this is what will happen. One also who was shaking the most when the EU threatened to ban foothold furs it was us trappers who remembered the $10 rat, the $100 red and the $50 coon. The fur trade and trappers flinched first. the biologist want a fur market as that brings wildlife managers and harvest managers out to assist them in low cost wildlife management. They will be charged with wildlife management even if trapping is banned totally. They will just have to discover new methods. Sometimes the mirror is the best way to begin to recover from the denial and get real as to who really dug the darn hole in the first place.

Yep there is a light at the end of the tunnel - a head light from the BMP train headed straight at you. The only way to stop it is to remove the rails! The rails for the BMP is from funds by the International Fur Federation and the U.S.D.A. We (Thompson Snares) is sending a letter to IAFWA/BMP in the form of intent to seek legal action. There is absolute proof of illegal or improper language and exclusions in their "Education Manual" especially regarding snares and cable restraints. If you want to know what's going on contact the FTA (or me). Dick Sinrud

A concerted campaign to STOP the money going into this farce is one of the best uses of anyones time right now, without that, you should bend over grab your ankles, but make sure you lube up first.

It is one of the biggest farces perpetrated on trappers so far, almost reminds you of Auschwitz, pile up your clothes here, and head to the showers...yeah right.

This manual is it a mandate for each state to be used? Or is it a guidline much like a shot shell guidline for ducks and geese? What illegal proof are you referring too? Thanks TC37
