Tman do you have any spots that yield 10-15 coyotes or more each year?

How many groups do you think you are working with at that particular location?

I have been giving students some trapping lessons. Had one spot left my digging hammer right by the set.The coyote still came and worked the set in the fresh dirt. I have a massive bone pile about 500 yrd away. The ground is just covered in tracks. The coyotes are super thick this year. i had a coon running in circles trying to catch it's tail like a dog and when I drove up at it it ran right for me I gave him a lead pill I think he was rabid not distemper.

Do you think that you might only be dealing with the resident family group at the locations that give up 3 to 5 per year and multiple groups at the locations that give you 10 to 15 per year?

Tman what percentage are the 3-5 coyote spots versus the 10-15 coyote spots?

Steve do you have any fox to speak of down your way anymore? The part of southern MN where I grew up (Madelia area) once had a decent red fox population. Then enter coyotes, disease, etc. and twenty years or so ago the fox disappeared. This summer when I was back home on leave I heard people talking of seeing some reds again. Just curious if you have much sign of them in your part of the state?

last few years, been hearing more about seeing reds- but I'm only taking 7-10 a year- back in the early 200s I was catching for a 5-6 year period 30-35 and before that it was always 7-10- then it stopped and back to that 7-10. caught 1 this year released season not open- season opens tomorrow so can keep incidentals
used to catch 4-6 grays a year- over past 15 years have caught 3- all same year about 7 years ago, 2 on 1 farm 1 on another

A friend an I traveled into some public land for our water opener and in 3 checks we scored 191 rats. Northern WI rats are smaller and not has heavy furred and these are early as well. Had some decent weather and a good time. Got one small coon and released two beaver from my 1 stoploss traps. just got back and will take a day to recover and start some water trapping locally. Not any completion on 3 bodies of water and two on one larger one.

pulled everything yesterday- today was going to be a set up day, but after 2+ inches of rain last night- not going to happen. Those field roads will be a greasy mess today. last check line 2- coyote #7 at the terrace a decent enough badger- typical for this time of year I've trapped maybe 200 badgers on the high end- some years mid teens others just a few- but in all those badgers, I've never had one pull out or dig out a stake- they either go around and around, or the dig under like this one. and that's catching a few in #1 gopher traps with just gopher stakes and here is me a month before the trapping season

Ah . . . pullback handlebars, sweet. You haven't got Lori sitting on a hardtail, do ya Steve? Tell me there's a spring back there.

no- its a hardtail-
but 99% of the time she rides her own bike-
Hardtail is actually, if set up right, a very comfortable ride. Springer makes all the difference

its actually a very comfortable bike- only thing that gets sore is my rear end after a lot of miles- seat and position fits like a glove- but not much wiggle room
I've got over 200,000 miles on that bike-
