How many of those coyotes sold where western heavy? Western Heavy made up for a little better than half of the coyotes offered, right around 159 lots. Off the top of my head it looks like about 16,000+.

Yotes here are still looking good, got till the 15th Rdfx, I can normally catch "sale-able" into the first week of February here in Central Michigan but not this year! The last few I caught 3 weeks ago were so badly rubbed that I hesitated to skin them but I did, then I pulled. My coyotes were in heavy cover at a normal/usual time so the time of having their fur beat-up shouldn't have been a differing factor. I'm thinking it was the length of time the high temps were with us here.

Yup, clearances certainly went south on Semi's and Easterns since last year. Definitely shows you where interests lie at the moment.
Wait till they get the rest of them out in April!

in all my years of seasonally trapping fulltime, I don't think I've seen this type of situation. yes, certain furs collapsed (reminds me of the old days- it seemed like it was either short hair or long hair- one was worth some good $$, the other was not and it varied from season to season) but the overall market didn't seem as down all across the board.

One needs to try to remain optimistic and wanting to trap and yes I have only trapped regularly since 1980 but this is the poorest that I have seen in those years over all and especially for all the species common to me. Really difficult to call it a "market" at all when in reality it is more like going to a rummage sale and one lowers the prices to get things moved out and you still don't get buyers. I guess I can see why when we deal with commodities which means there is labor and consumables used all the way up the chain and if the top of the chain does not move goods out the there is no need for the rest of the links to be ready to pull anything.
