Does anyone know anything about the hand forged Newhouse traps? Particularly the #4 which I just acquired (what they go for in terms of pricing)

I cant tell from picture if this is a handforged trap. A closer pic of spring eye and top of spring would help plus a top picture of pan to see if any stamping on pan or spring. Certain stampings can put trap in hundreds of dollars. From pic i agree with lumberjack on approx price. Do not do anything to trap such as sand, put in vinegar ect. leave as is. Looking forward to pictures if possible.

It's too hard to see the standings through pics, I've tried but the pan says Newhouse Oneida community in a circular pattern around the outside edge and number 4 pat sept and a date I cannot read in the center. Both springs are stamped as well...I can read "Newhouse Oneida community made in USA"

THe stamping on springs raises price some... if there is a standing bear on either of the springs the value goes up more.

okay, you still have a nice trap. You can look for a chain that comes with that trap originally and put on which will add to value. Look on antique collector sites for a proper chain.
