I do love to trap coyotes, but I need that return to the water- my mind is off of coyotes, and water is just a relaxing end to the season. Esp this year- sat I checked 25 traps, beautiful day, felt like a mid spring day, sun shining birds singing- a pleasure to be outdoors lst stop- 4 traps on a spring creek wall- all within 10 feet- 2 mink, 2 rats- the mink double was where I didn't even move my feet to check walked down the creek aways- 3 traps- one snapped in bed from falling mud, 2 rats...walked 100 yds downstream- 2 traps, mink and rat 2nd stop- 7 traps, 4 rats and a mink 3rd stop- 6 traps- 3 rats 4th stop- 3 traps, 1 mink- so 25 traps- 12 rats, 5 mink one of my best % days on water- got canines prepped, off to sell today- for those counting, there are 7 rows of 5 underneath

Looking good! Now, I'm not sure is that on an extended check? Or is that a 24 hour check with just 25 traps? Either way, 5 mink on one check makes a very good day!

Boy, there sure must be a lot of rats, mink and coyotes in your area!
Just messing with you. It certainly is fun when the traps are full and you can pat yourself on the back for setting in the right spot.

That would be a fun line to check! With only 25 traps, that's 68%. And only 4 stops!

back to reality- checked them today- 10 rats, 1 mink- still decent enough for the # of traps. set up 2 little locations today with 3 each, pulled one that had 6 so staying even....
tomorrow setting up a spot that could be quite good for rat- and a couple of 330s for beaver- walking in, and 2 is more than I want to carry (beaver out)
saw a road killed coyote, stopped to look- rubbed neck, weak belly- didn't even bother to pick up

My plan this year is to leave my little mink line out for as long as the weather, my body and the season holds out. Most of the rats are caught out so you can just imagine my daily totals as of lately. 99% 110s so I aint getting many raccoons either.
