Went looking for some more #3 high lever Montys to get ready for this coming season. Getting hard to find but I managed to scratch up a few!

Springs pulled. Received some that came set with the tight jaw tied down to the spring pin with nylon cable ties.

In a trade, I once sent a doz 1.5s in a flat rate box, all set with a tie on the jaw and they fit perfect

Would those be the ones from ebay from Texas?

From the west but not Texas.
There were several on ebay from a fellow I thought was in Kansas but they all had the factory sheared offset in the jaws. He is offering some other traps that were modified by Chestnut. Not what I am looking for.

I don't know why guys like center swiveled. To me they are a PIA at times trying to bed i nfrozzen or hard soil, and I personally think it makes little difference in paw position after a catch. I kept pretty good records one year on 50% of my traps end swiveled, and 50% centered.
braveheart, I'll PM you on the montanas

Sterling base plates with the D-ring offset to one end are the way to go for me! Been using them for almost 25 years and have never had an issue. In addition, Sterling swivels have no peer! Lay flat when bedding and fight the trash better than any other option out there! I had 2 Montanas, sent them packing this year, Montys or nothing from here on out! IF ANYONE HAS #3 or #4 HIGH LEVER SQUARE JAWED DOGLESS MONTGOMERYS WITH CLOSED JAWS AND WISHES TO SELL THEM, SHOOT ME A P.M.!!!

What did you not like about the Montana's compared to a Monty, Bogio? Pan does seem to sit a bit lower on the Montgomery's, which is nicer with the screen.

High Montana pans + stiff black screen = black and blue fingernails.

I like the 4's and I just attach a base plate.I think I am going with Carlis new base plate with a sterling style set up.I have very little if any foot damage in the off set style and my notch pan tension stays with out messing with them.

I agree 100% with the screen- but thep roblem is easily solved by using a screen not as stiff, cutting it a bit oversize, and locking it under the jaws- by doing that, I don't get that bubble you have with the montanas and the stiff screen
