This goes out to the citizen outdoorsman who helped me out today by dispatching a coyote for me with the .378 Weatherby that you bought for that as of yet unrealized hunt for African plains game. I appreciate the effort and realize that someone who is unfamiliar with trapping might be concerned with the coyote escaping before I returned. Rest assured that the equipment I use is the best of the best and the chances of that coyote getting loose were very slim. Even though I wasn't there at the asss crack of dawn to retrieve him, he would have remained there comfortably until I was able to return in the late afternoon. If you have the time and are good with your hands, I could use a little help reassembling the jigsaw puzzle of a hide that you left for me. Again, THANKS A LOT!

I once had a double shot with a two guys carrying 270 and 30/06 I caught these coyotes on the other side of a dog town, I knew one of guys they where doing a combo deer hunt and coyote calling deal on the In laws ground he apologized after the fact he thought he called them in to the 200 some yrds they where away and got excited and shot then realized they where in my traps First I was a little PO'd but then after the story I had to laugh. he felt rally bad and called me about it at least.

Yep; been there done that too - very frustrating. Had them shot with pistols, rifles and even one with a bow. I guess its better than finding a empty trap, catch circle, blood spot and no coyote. Had that happen a few times as well.

I have in the past had farmers wanting to help me with shooting the coons I had in live traps. The one guy shot the coon with a 12 gauge shotgun with number 6 loads, ruined the coon and caused a lot of repair on the trap as well.

in montana, had a coyote shot with whatever someone was using for elk- cut the pelt in half right on the spine line- Lori sewed it and we sold it with the rest.
Its rare to have a hunter shoot one for me- they know enough on my private lands to leave me alone-
I do get 1-2 a year where as you say Bryce farmer is "helping" and at least its with a .22- but then I got a cold coyote, and I HATE cold coyotes
