I don't have a lot of beaver on my creeks, 3 decades of trapping the same streams, eliminates the chances of finding an established colony like it was when I started here. Not uncommon to find setups back then with multiple dams, and even multiple houses on the small creeks- but landowners want them gone, and while I don't make any super kind of effort, I do trap what I find, almost always a 1 dam situation, with a pair of beaver and perhaps a few kits. usually the pair are 2 year olds, but these 2 today were in that 60+ range so not 2 year olds. I'd expect to have another or two, but with the other sets untouched, guessing not. I set this up a week ago, came back next day and a corner of the dam had blown out overnight, and the water dropped almost 3 feet, leaving everything high and dry. I pulled everything, figuring I'd wait a bit and see if they repaired it, went back Wednesday and saw they had, so set it up and checked it today.

They must have been fun to haul up the hill. Do you give the tails to Buddy as a chew toy? My dogs love them.

Clean unchewed 7 inch tails are probably worth more than the pews
