did a little experimentation, this summer and came to the conclusion that chicken wire "barricades" seem to serve the purpose of keeping debris out of the set area- mainly in my case watercress and other stream underwater vegetation. by doing it like that, should be able to keep enough 330s working all season, to take the very random otter I got o n my streams. I'll let you know the results later.
also, to clear up a misconception, otter are in no way stressed enough by trapping and being released to cause any kind of significant dye off rates. They aren't trout. In radioing the otter here during our program, and in programs across multiple states, the death rate of captured, taken to the vet otter, radios placed inside and then dying, was nil for us with 40 or more otter. and if messing around for 20-30 minutes getting them into a net, into a cage, into a vets office, on the table and back in marsh didn't stress them out enough, I don't think a simple catch and release with either.
