ouch, ouch, ouch
what kinda bothers me, is up till the wild fur- the ranch mink were doing great, so to speak and reading the blurbs
now today- NAFA opened its Wild Fur sale today amid challenging conditions following a difficult ranch mink sale. Given the reality of much cheaper mink prices, Wild Fur is now struggling to find its own niche in the international fur market.[/v]

Given the reality of much cheaper mink prices, Wild Fur is now struggling to find its own niche in the international fur market.[/v] Ranch prices have been dropping steadily. A huge peltout of ranch mink and foxes is coming. Which won't help next season. Coyotes seem to be doing ok today, rats excellent. Beaver other than the very top stuff a losing propostion. I wonder if red fox will hold later today. I have a feeling they will drop quiet a bit. I have seen things much worse not long ago. Our golden triagle coon may still be saleable next fall in the eight to fifteen dollar range. Four dollar gas means unless you have rats it will be challenging.

Might be coyotes paul.
Our coyotes here are probably still in the mid40's low 50s

my coyotes here, while not eastern in size are eastern in fur type, IMO
coarse, poor bellies- FOR THE MOST PART and you see what that type of coyote is doing
talking to a lot of my farmers this spring, confirmed what I felt last fall, that in much of my territory coyote numbers were very much down-
we've had a good spring insofar as land animals raising young, so I'm hoping that boosts the populations of my big 2, coon and coyote

Not yet. Maybe this winter I'll start drinking hwen I am skinning snared previously frozen coyotes.
They are down in numbers up here as well and thats a good thing. Hopefully they will stay there/go lower. Maybe the fox will come back.

Steve, I dont know at auction for sure, but I'd wager alot of your coyotes would go in the semi grade and not hte eastern.

Steve, I dont know at auction for sure, but I'd wager alot of your coyotes would go in the semi grade and not hte eastern. It would be interesting to see the grading at Nafa on a good amount of southeastern Minnesota coyotes. If a few got pushed up with the better section coyotes it would seem to make for a decent average. See somewhere Zagger averaged 54 or so on his eastern's at the sale.
