I use that tang to keep the second trigger stabilized from dropping down.. In the first pic it was not against it.. I'm just happy I can post pics now.. Lol

Steve, also on the circle trigger where the bump their nose I take a pliers and twist the circle to a smaller diameter so it fits the tunnel better.. it should move with no resistance whatsoever..

I always make sure the circle moves freely back and forth
on my new ones, seems like that tang is to low, even when bending them down.
perhaps its a problem just when new- I find the hangup (had one today) is where the trigger against the tang, goes up, but the eye twists on the mount, and stops the other wire (the one on right in your pix) from releasing, and I means it LOCKED
have you ever had that type of hangup?

Yes I have had them get a wedgie.. Havent bought any in a few years so cant comment on the tang.. Could you mark the trap? bet it probably is the same one.. push the second trigger as far to the left also so there is less chance of jamming.. Each of the newer traps seem to have their own characteristics also.. I wonder if its not that one trap if your spring is catching the dirt when its firing and slowing it down and not throwing the wires? I try to carve out the dirt on that side so the spring clears when fired.. not really a problem this time of year in sand as the ground is soft.. dry summer dirt you definatly have to make sure its clear..

I'll make a note to see if it is the same trap- good point. I had several a day in beginning, but have been tinkering and down to every once in a while one-
yes, do make sure the spring is clear- learned that from experience
winding down on first part of season- hay getting too tall to drive, might set up a few grass paddock places early next week if no rain. but they will be cutting hay by end of month, so next week is plant garden, do other chores
