the proper adjustment is when the pan lies flat, and both jaws lay flat.
you get the jaws flat by tweaking the levers so they are centered- a screwdriver works for that.
if the pan doesn't lie flat, you cannot really bend it flat, so you have to change the angle on the pan notch with a file edited- brought to my attention I said springs, instead of levers

You can somewhat adjust the pan level by bending the frame and or put a screwdriver under the pan trigger piece and push down on the pan. Hard to describe by typing. One adjustment can affect another so you gotta tinker a lil

Yes Clefus when I used them for BMP's I used a large screwdriver handle under the pan to make the pan sit level worked well.. Yep a little goes along ways for sure.
