Any ideas on the best place for springs? At the trap, middle or at the stake ? Its the law here,besides8" chain and I have to many mounds for that,Im a live market trapper. Im gonna weld all my j hooks because its hard on them pulling super stakes, thought id get some input on spring placement before I do so thanks.

I like my Conner springs at the very end where you stake and I like them connected with a chestnut ring to allow maximum swivel action and really does reduce the wear and tear on the entire setup. To me a great investment as long as one starts with a good heavy spring to begin with.

I got Connor springs ive been running them twelve inches from the trap3 swivels in between trap and spring and the two on the spring then one more attached to an18 inch super stake, its probably overkill but it is solid. I have been playing around with where to keep the spring fora couple seasons.thank you for the reply

I use the JC CONNER Springs on all of my Canine traps (MB 550s)! The original length of the chain (as it comes from MB) is cut in half, putting the Spring in the center of the run. Each piece of chain has a Double-Swivel on them. The JC Spring is added to the un-swiveled-end of the chain with new lock-washers, bent closed The bottom swivel can also be used as a Slider Lock to slide the trap away from the actual set, if you wish.
EVERY J-hook and Lock washer in the "system" is welded closed so there isn't anything in the system that could be bent open.
The over-all length of the chain system is approximately 18-inches.
A Screw-Together Chain-link joins the bottom-end of the chain assembly to the anchoring system.
I use mostly POGO Anchors. In our soil (and conditions with frozen ground), the over-all length of my anchoring assembly is about 12 inches long. A Loop (or a #9 Wire Swivel) goes on the top of the anchor cable to attach the anchor and chain together. (I like the Swivel-Top Anchors better than the plain-looped ones.) One more swivel in the line IS "Better"!
IT WORKS FOR ME !
