With this nice weather.I always hydrate the dog food with a cup of warm water and some high fat scrapes. So the terriers don't shiver their weight off.

I had dogs really lean out with the cold we had last week. To top it off, I also had a female ending her heat. Some dogs just don't eat when that happens. Couple that with a few -40 days and you have a real skinny dog.
I have tried the warm water and soups etc.. the dogs flip the plates to remove the water ....
My dogs don't shiver from the cold. They might hold up a foot now and then. Dry straw helps keep them warm.

I have plenty of new bedding for the dogs as well. The small females I had did the 3 legged hop but my males didn't mind so bad.We only had 14 below 0 yesterday.

Down to -17 with 30 mile an hour winds here. I have a doghouse with wood bedding outside and also a crate in the garage. During the day sometimes my airedale wanted in and sometimes wanted to stay out. Left it up to him. Always ready to come in at night, though.
