Has anyone tried them on beavers? I've tried just the springs with filed cam locks and the beavers don't pull it down enough to compress the springs . I'm thinking with the trigger they should pull enough to pop the trigger and release the spring and be lights out.

You need a faster setup than filed cams for neck snaring beaver on a consistent basis. 7x7 in 5/64 works well with a standard can for this purpose. No springs warranted.

I want the beaver dead. I use 1/16" 1X19 and 5/64" 7X7. I neck snare 85%. They just don't die. Once in a while one will wrap up tight and be out. I just want to have it happen more often. Even pulling them up to dispatch live one they don't pull as hard in the water as some people would have you believe. It's not like they have all 4 feet on the ground. The strange catches(feet ,tails, mouth) are a little higher with the 5/64" but not much. I like the speed of the 1/16". I don't know why some of the odd catches happen. I think it has to do with the size of the beavers and how they approach the castor mound. Even with a good U cut in the bank and blocking some of them still go around and get caught when they leave the mound. The last 4 years I've kept track of what size cable they were caught in and where on the beaver they were caught. This spring I'm going to keep track of size too.

Caution using 1/16 cable unless one has great swivel action. IF they bind that up they will be gone in short order. Never been a fan of tiny cable for beaver that will roll a lot. Coyotes in open areas and kill springs and aggressive locks are great. Avoid giving them an option to chew on the cable.
having a solid support for the loop is key for neck snaring beaver.

What are you running for a snare on the slider bars?
