I'm sure the time was well spent and many lessons learned. How was the skinning of that tailgate full of coyotes?

Bob Had a skinning machine. Real cool rig. I took some pics of it so I could make one shortly. The badgers that we caught were not open yet, so we released all of them. They aren't too bad to release, I thought it would be WAY more trouble. When they run off they look really cool, sometimes stopping and giving you the stare, like try it again, and see what happens. Never saw a badger before up until then. Neat looking, to say the least. He wasn't dug in too bad, maybe that's why I thought it was easy!!!!!!!!!!!! I will send more pics to Iowa badger and he can post them. Thanks, Iowa Badger!!!!!!!!!!! greg

Hwy silk tell bob w he needs to bend those spring pins out to keep the springs from getting torn off as easy LOL. Or go with Connors springs. I see he has went away from the padded traps to laminated models good move catch rate I'm betting far better.
Looks like the feed lots where good places to crack some nice numbers of coyotes way to go!
Yeh badgers make a mess but built so low to the ground just keep away from the teeth and fairly simple to release. bad near sighted vision keeps them giving you the look back or will back up with their butte at times first. Good prime badgers some years will net you as much as a coyote and far easier to skin LOL.

Just what tc said. He has a market for the skulls. Quite an operation for the skunk essence. Never seen or smelled such viotile stuff in my life. He is real good at it. Probably got over 20 oz of skunk pee for his trouble.Makes good use of the pods too. I have more pics if you want to see a few more. Thanks again, badger. greg

Jim there are markets for fresh frozen skulls coyotes can bring 2-3 each many will use beetles to clean them really well then use a professional strength hydrogen peroxide to make them pearly white! they can sell them for 12-20 each depending on size and condition of such skulls. any uses for them from biology classes to a neat decoration in your home. I have a few on my mantle I killed these are ones that have given me fits trying to kill LOL. A great memory of such to keep.
So you sell a 100-200 and you can make back a few tanks of gas money. it all adds up.
Boiling and bleach are tougher on the skulls and can lead to holes and many teeth falling out but can be glued back into place. Bleach can also cause the bottom jaws to split as well.

Yes. Tumbleweeds and all. Saw a few of them going across the road now and then. Miles of prarie. Makes a guy wonder where stuff hides out there. At Least the part of ks where we were at. Supposed to be alot of ringnecks there, but I only saw one. Saw a total of 4 deer, and 3 of those were hit with a car or big semi. Quite a few skunks there, much to bob's liking. Had a awesome time.
