never been caught in a 330, never gotten close before
that changed monday
had a 330 set i na channell for otter, and when I checked it, I DID bring the setters, but when I couldn;t fnd the trap, I laid them on a log to look for the trap. Thought it was set lower, and as I was looking for it, and was concluding it was stolen, I walked into it .
It closed slowly since my leg was in the way, and didn't hurt at all until it KEPT tightening
lori had taken Buddy back to truck, and she came back to check on me-0 luckily
by the time she got there, got the setters off the log, and got my foot out- the pressure was quite intense.
good thing she came back for me- trap was only on my foot for 4-5 minutes- but trust me, that was long enough
from now on, anytime I'm around 330s, that setter is going to be IN MY HAND
good lesson learned!

Tman had a finger in one muddy slippery one not full trigger but 80 percent or so, thought it was broke but lucky nope, did swell up nice for about a week though. I also caught my foot in one once checking and underwater beaver set water was up and I misjudged trap placement. That was an older style victor witH the safety tabs trying to pull those small pins with a pliers in 3 ft of water no fun and slow. I removed all pins and went with a wrap of 14 ga wire there after in them to unwrap wire and pull in a few seconds time no tools needed. Nice idea except for the small cotter pins.

160 magnums are like boas, they keep tightening every breath you take, or so it seems. The pain is so intense you cant think straight and want to panic before doing whatever it takes to get it off. I been bit a few times.

Got hung up in a 280 this year on my contract work. Wasn't to bad, except was caught in the corner with the spring wedged up against my hand. Had to make a make shift tong with two T-posts in the back of truck to get the bloomin thing off.

My thumb in a 280 Belisle mag didn't hurt until the trap came off. It bled like a pig and that thumb doesn't work like it used to. But it can still hold the bottom of a sandwich or a cold one so all is good!
That"Oh nuts" feeling is something though, isn't it.

I am going to stay with my 'weak' 330 victors. Doesn't matter if a tail caught one gets out. Had one full on the wrist a couple years ago, maybe ten minutes or more to walk out to my truck and the setters but good as new as soon as I got it off.

if you mean me, once off foot zero pain, swelling etc- I was glad lori was there. I do know that I carry the setters and have them within reach at every 330 I have out since then

Steve make up a rope with s hook on end and loop on other end big enough for you to get gloved hand in. You loop the rope thru both eyes twice of body grip spring with hook on one eye spring. You can pull with one hand if thats the situation and pull hand out or if other hand is free put safety hook on. THis set up fits into any pocket you have so is with you. Ive taught this saftey method for 35 years in my trappers ed classes. THis set up will work if you drop your big setters in the drink and cant find them or loose them....

One of those time you don't want to be in the Canadian Club...with Mr. Belisle as your side kick. The "dead" on road rubber strap S hook fits a nice safety hook on the rope pull through, the hook latches as it gets past the eyelet

Had an incident with one this year. Taking Otter out of 330 duke Magnum. Setters let go and spring caught in hand. Ended up with 14 stitches between thumb and fore finger. Healed up good but still poor grip in that hand.

Severely years ago I tried to pitch a piece of bait past the trigger of a 220 into a pocket. Too much follow through resulted in a good hit across the knuckles of three fingers. The knuckle of my left index finger (I'm left-handed) is larger than normal after all these years.
