We'll I pulled most of my sets because of the start of deer season, but I decided to leave out two spots because they could easily be checked from the road and my house. I caught one coyote about a week ago at this location with mange and decided to put in another set at the edge of the catch circle. There were already two sets there, one being the set I caught the coyote in and one of Zagger's pipe sets. Well when I went to check traps this was waiting for me. I have never caught a double on coyotes and didn't expect this. To say I was excited is an understatement.

The only way to do triples is to set 3 traps! I think too many add one or two sets and call it good then have to check again in those key areas. Same can be said for snares.
That's awsome and things like these seems to stick in the brain for awhile.

Looks like you didn't have to work to hard to get them all in the picture, good job.

Two of the coyotes were caught on Keg Creek lures, Magnum Force and Coyote Gland.

used a lot of both lures this year- tha MF has become one of my favorites.
I find myself setting closer than I used to, but those 3 traps are really set tight- do you always set so tight, and if so, why?

used a lot of both lures this year- tha MF has become one of my favorites. I find myself setting closer than I used to, but those 3 traps are really set tight- do you always set so tight, and if so, why? Magnum Force is probably my favorite lure for a flat set. I do believe I have never set three traps this close before. Originally there were just 2 sets, the spot with the coyote on the left and the one in the back. The left was a mound set that was a small pile of bean chaff I upgraded and the other was using the natural weed line as a backing. Third set was added on the outside of the catch circle of a previous coyote caught at the left location. Your question makes me think. I have never caught a double and I have never set this close to each other. Is it a coincidence or a correlation. I don't have any clue, the sun shined on this dogs ass one day is all I know. I will keep on struggling trying to figure these things out. One other interesting thing about it is last year late in the season I had a post on the forum regarding this location and not connecting. About a 150 yards away in an abandoned gravel pit where they run around in and play I couldn't catch them so I left the pit. I then caught them where they were probably traveling. Once again I have no clue why one spot worked and the other didn't. I am taking this next week off work and going to try and catch a few more amongst all the deer hunters.

Nice triple...and man that is close. What I have found is ,the more traps you set at a location the more doubles and triples you get. It's that simple....keep up the good work!

Basically a flat set, covered in grass with a piece of electric conduit sticking up. The set was fully described in Trappers Post by Mark Zagger.
