I have a location thats a hill road, where a little spring creek needs to be crossed. There is a creek crossing, but its steeps, and rocky, and I figured I rather not drive it this year, so figured I'd find a narrow spot, and just jump it when safety entered my mind and I thought- bring a plank and make a bridge.
So we did- lori went to her dad's and crabbed a nice oak plank. laid it across the creek, and setting was a breeze.
Next day, I pulled up and saw a coyote surrounded on 1 side by turkeys-
took a pic and then gathered my remake stuff, gun, etc
I took a step onto that plank- and with the frost- my first step sent me flying, landing half on the plank (which was at water level), every thing flying, and half in the water on both sides of the plank......
and then the plank tipped...
the creek is maybe 4 feet wide, and 3 feet deep, and I fell into it as perfectly in that slot as one could wish for, under I went, ears and moith full of creek water (lluckily cows downstream).
jumped out, hat, urine bottle, etc floating down stream, so back in I went to get them- gun upside down wih just end of clip sticking out. got everything out, went back to truck to change at least shirt and coat, killed coyote and then thought- where the F are my glasses???
went back to creek and saw my pliers on bottom, didn't know i lost that until then- took me a few searches ,abut I did find my glasses unharmed.
what a way to start the day
the location is a hill road that connects the top (barns and feedlot, dead cows) to the larger creek bottom
and its been a consistent producer for 25 years, heres another there different set, next day
