Would a 2 coil MB550 with offset jaws be acceptable for trapping coyotes? I don't have to worry about ice or snow here in SE TX.

Same here. No regrets. We still have a varied population of critters and they've held the occasional coyote just fine and they don't appear to be hard on the others. Fox, coon, etc.

own 6 dozen of them they do good i would use a bigger trap if I had 100% coyotes but with greys and lots of hound hunters the 550 fits my needs perfectly havent had any 550,s messed up at all other than a few bent dogs and the newer ones have shorter dogs which seems to be even better

Same here in Va. work fine on all critters...... nice solid trap , the 450's will hold yotes also, all MB's IMO are very good !
