The scenery shot: not really any snow. Just enough to show tracks and show thieves where your sets are. This marten had been caught in a rabbit snare. It wasn't pretty and things didn't look good for the future. I sewed it up but there's no way to deal with it other than to realize that it's going to get docked. On a few lines rabbit pie is an Xmas tradition and rabbit snarers are one giant pain in the arse for fur trappers. This isn't the first time this has happened. This is a pretty big marten. Lighting isn't great but it was still early. Checks that day started with a flashlight. I took the photo because this one got a name. It's called 100. I wish it was 100 marten but it isn't. We'll just leave it at that. Here is a wet cross fox. It looks way better on the board. Here's a daylight cat photo. This one was snarly and pretty aggressive. It actually pounced and took a serious swipe. That was different from the usual behaviour. Thanks for looking.

Nice pics! Those Cross fox are on my bucket list. They are one of the coolest looking K9s.

Musher,
Always like the marten and lynx pics. Thanks for posting them!
Once you have established a trapline as yours with the government, what rights do others have to be on that property for hunting, rabbit snaring etc?
Gettin pretty pumped, leavin' saturday for Prince George BC to run my first Canadian trapline. So far weather looks good, all below freezing without a major amount of snow. Really hoping for a Wolverine.

I remember my first cross fox as a young trapper and the furbuyer that bought it saying it wasnt worth as much as a red fox.... i didnt know any better but at the time reds were bringing about 25 bucks and found out the xfox were bringing about 75 bucks.... Still have a grudge against the fur buyer..lol . cheating a kid..

claythomas: People can hunt or snare hares and fish as long as they are licensed and pay any fees required. if there is a cottage on government lease land, I cannot trap on the lease (200 feet by 200 feet) unless I have written permission of the lease holder. Interestingly enough, my lease requires me to pay for the total trapline area without deducting the leased land area.
