what does a click do, that a short latch doesn't do?
on a short latch, its either set, or its not set- and if set, its correct because there is no other option.
to me, making a double set nightlatch is just a waste of time

having that click is just a positive audio signal that your ready to rock. Another added benefit to PIT pans is you can have them preset and they won't fire. That might be a benefit to you or not.

having that click does nothing over a short notch, except make a noise.
with a short notch- the trap is EITHER SET, OR NOT SET.
there is NO inbetween- so a positive signal that the trap is set right, is the fact the trap is SET

same with the click once you hear it, your on 1/32 of an inch of dog with positive pan tension that doesn't change.
