Trap Basket/Pack

Here are 2 of the 3 I've put together using Military ALICE (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment) packs.

For those of you who don't know what an ALICE pack is, here is a pic of the basic units.


This one makes use of the basic carrier frame with quick release shoulder straps,
hip/kidney pad with waist belt and the optional cargo shelf.


A 28 quart plastic trash bucket/can is zip tied into place and a few drain holes have been drilled in the bottom


The cargo shelf clips over the lower brace and is held in place using zip ties
As rigged you can easily carry 50lbs


As shown there is plenty of space to stack 330s...maybe 1/2 dozen or more with some practice


This one uses the Large Alice pack with carrier frame, quick release shoulder straps and a 41 quart trash can
This pack is rated for 70lb loads


With 3 large and 3 small storage pouches plus the side webbings you got plenty of space for your
absolutely have to have, might need it sometime stuff


With a 41 quart container you've got room for one huge or two yearling beaver or several coons
not to mention all the empty traps you'll have to haul back out


And if your concerned about not being able to get it off in a hurry the quick release shoulder straps
will allow you to drop it off your back with just a pull of the snap and tethers


Say what you will the Military has it right when moving stuff and the cost of surplus military items
can be quite reasonable if you shop around the internet...with a little patience and searching on "?=Bay" I was able to
put together the Large Pack with the trash can for about $40 and I've got about $30 invested in the first one

Lori bought me a "new" style plastic one 20 years ago, and I still use it. not as much as when 90% of my lines were walking lines, but there still are times and locations where I wear one.

I use a Swedish military backpack that has back features of Alice. Has alot of leather straps so a little upkeep but have one for snaring and another for trapping...
